This in The Cubby Bear Lounge in Chicago. The Cubby Bear is a dive bar kitty corner to Wrigley Field. I saw Jim Carroll read there and saw Pixies there in the summer of 89.

You've mentioned a few esoteric bands here (to me anyway). Never heard of Annexus Quam, String Driven or NEKTAR. String Driven Thing looks like weird badasses- badder than Hawkwind. Have you ever seen Hawkwind's dancing muse/nymph/Hippie Bitch from hell with a killer freaking body- STACIA? I used to be more impressed by Hawkwind being fronted by a nude dancer than I ever was by their music. It's funny to find out now that Hawkwind admits to having consciously to hurt people with the their music. I guess they used to actively attempt to wither audiences with "sonic weapons" and watch people run for cover and laugh about it (Lemmy continued that M.O. with motorhead- turds.
