some things i can think of that you might like are:
Fennesz, Swans, Barn Owl, Mouthus, The Skaters, Sunburned Hand of The Man, Burning Star Core, Pocahaunted, Terry Riley, Excepter, The Dead C. All awesome awesome bands. I recently saw a guy called Concern in a support slot and he was really awesome too, although i have no idea what he'd be like on record.
i've given up listening to any more of the new school of cosmic synthadelia after "solar bridge" came out. it makes everything else seem so unnecessary.
but check out Mark Mcgurie's solo stuff, and records under the name Skyramps and Sunwatcher. They're all really great. Skyramps particularly, while not sounding THAT much like emeralds is brilliant. (You can buy his cd-rs and tapes here : http://mcguiremusic.blogspot.com/ )Also can we talk about how brillo the new emeralds LP is? Top, top notch stuff...
Also, all the Skaters related stuff maybe? Dolphins into the future? Belong? Sun Araw/Magic Lantern? Earlier Grouper? I dunno...
i'm liking the ambient drone genre at the minute

Isn't Concern the brother of Owen Wassname from Casiotone FTPA?
I keep meaning to check him out.
to take it in a slightly different direction, if you like Emeralds
you might like Manuel Gottsching.
try E2-E4 and Live at Mount Fuji.
but also everything above.
oh and Natural Snow Buildings.
here are a couple of cool things
http://www.mimaroglumusicsales.com/artists/astral+social+club.html
^Listen to the sample of the 'Neon Pibroch' album. So good!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqWwbMdMrhQ
^Tangerine Dream. It's kind of vast and depressing though. Even on youtube!
I dunno what Growing sound like now mind ye, the last album I got was a while ago.

i've given up listening to any more of the new school of cosmic synthadelia after "solar bridge" came out. it makes everything else seem so unnecessary.
He's talking about old school stuff
70s kosmische stuff.
but but but
'What happened' is EVEN BETTER/
Seriously.
Burning Star Core
I just got Challenger. And it's blissful, but better when it dissolves into white noise feedback. So yeah, that.
Challenger is cool
but 'post abandoned operator dead' is even better. I think both are essential really. God I love BSC.
Never heard growing
and they don't have a myspace or owt so ah can't tell what they're like without purchasing summat. Could someone describe their music to me?
kaleidoscopic fractals of sound
some quite minimal some big and billowing. started to get a bit more rhymical recently.
i'd start with this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Color-Wheel-Growing/dp/B000FIHJ9C/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1257324707&sr=1-3
also try some of AMP's more beatless stuff...

Thumbs up for Birchville Cat Motel.
Fennesz tends to be my stock reply for threads like this
But Endless Summer, Black Sea and Venice are all absolutely beautiful, must-own albums.
Stars of the Lid are another good bet. Their earlier material is noisier whereas their latest stuff builds walls of monolithic melody. It's gorgeous.
Dead Texan
one half of stars of the lid. a good one.
Produced some of Labradford's stuff
Antoher good one.
Brian McBride and Chris Bissonette's solo stuff is pretty lush too.
! I can't believe i forgot about Labradford
and on that note, Bark Psychosis (a little less droney perhaps)
Most of the stuff I'd have said has already been mentioned

Definitly check out Belong
October Language is one of the best albums of its kind out there, its sublime. Also maybe Tim Hecker.
The newest Emeralds is the best!
My favourite bits are on side b when it all gets massively loud and seems like it's about to break the speakers.
Agreed about der rest of the related stuff too but I wasn't that fussed w/Sun Watcher. Skyramps \m/
High Beams by Magic Lantern is blissfully amazing
super minerals
