mansun
i listened to 'attack of the grey lantern' this morning, and i completely forgot how good it was.
And 'Six' is one of my favourite albums of all time.
What the fuck happened with 'Little Kix'?
Also, has anyone listened to 'Kleptomania'?
Sorry, random tues morn thread, but I just don't know how a band goes from making pretty good music to utter tosh.

Mansun
Massive record company problems
Draper wasn't really allowed any artistic control over Little Kix following Six, record company chose the singles etc.
Then bass player nicked a load of their money and they imploded. Shame. Kleptomania is alright. Some very good b-sides.
To be fair the record company was pretty on the money with Little Kix singles
In that I Can Only Disappoint U somewhat ironically suggested it would be a good album
although i heard that was one of the few songs Paul wrote (he was somewhat forced out of areas other than singing from what i've heard, which is odd considering Mansun was essentially a glorified solo project like Bright Eyes, Shins, Razorlight, etc...)
Hmm
Fool and Electric Man were pretty awful
the bassist nicked loads of cash?
seriously?
that's bad dude

what the flip?
that can't all be true can it? that is one depressing read. they were pretty much my favourite band in my early teens. i might have to give Grey Lantern a whirl tomorrow and pretend i'm playing Championship Manager 2 while listening to it.
oh man
i just heard 'railings' for the first time in years
what an incredible song
nice one sean for telling me this is on spotify
She makes me bleed...oh yeah..
Reminds me of revising for GCSEs...
Kleptomania is worth getting
For the b-sides disc. There's also a good live version of Taxloss on the third disc. The "album" is alright but it comes an easy third behind Six and AOTGL.
all three Kleptmania discs
are on Spotify FYI

i will crack that open when i get home
Little Kix isn't as bad as it reputation says it is
It is their worst album and contains some right gash, but also enough good/great material to not make it completely unlistenable: I Can Only Disappoint U, Butterfly, Soundtrack and We Are the Boys being my favourites.
I'm a bit weird with Mansun, I've got all their albums in my collection (bar Kleptomania), I like them and I understand why most love the first two so much but they never really go anywhere beyond "nice band, good albums" for me, the music or the band do not really grab me emotionally or anything. Still good stuff though.
Love Mansun
live on the wrong continent.
Love this band
They can do no wrong for me. Love Attack of the Grey Lantern, etc and am a fan of Kleptomania, a staple on my ipod but i really don't thnk Little Kix is all that bad an album. don't understand why it gets such a kicking (no pun intended!)
