Hey guys, i am first time dj-ing at my students union in a few weeks time, at the 'Electro' night. And my music is distinctly un-electro
any suggestions/tips?

I think you have to blag it a bit with dj'ing,
just to get your foot in the door. I recently got the opportunity to dj at a funk/soul night even though I don't have masses of that music - I now do a regular slot there. I've learn't a lot in a short space of time and my record collection has benefitted:)
that is a good point, but its probably 30 % blag, 70 % tunes and ability.

Because mayeb its a way to listen to some new music. I'm not djing at Koko for fucks sake, its Cardiff SU, in a side room.
Its not like it doesnt suit my style, its open to playing alt., hip-hop and so on, but i just need/want some awesome electro tracks as well.
Electro tracks, which aren't some of the shit they will undoubtedly play in the main room such as Girls Aloud and La Roux

I take the point but tbh i just needed a few tracks, i'm not playing an hour of stuff i don't know but it would be nice to play a couple of tracks of unknown stuff i think.
