2009 Recommended - as a Spotify playlist

Not added absolutely everything (from this thread http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/music/4199015 ) because:

a) it's not all available (no Grizzly Bear?!)
b) i've not currently got time to do so
c) this list is primarily for me and DiS staff to play through to work out DiS album of the year contenders and is in no particular order

A few I say was missing:

Dark Was The Night (a compilation album, but a awesome one), Sufjan Stevens BQE and Johnny Foreigners Grace and The Bigger Picture. Still a awesome playlist, thanks!

  plus few of them were mentioned in the big thread. i started making it without any prompt and was mostly adding stuff i was curious to hear (not a fan of many of the above to be honest - quite like soap&skin live but record leaves me cold)

I'm working my way through this playlist today of ones that are new to me

Verdict so far (based on one listen only):

The pains of being pure at heart - rather decent
Phoenix - Wholly decent and indeed good
St. Vincent - Yeah, not really my kinda thing...
Wild Beasts - Very good, will investigate further
Paramore - Dear Lord, no. It's like Evanessence mutated with JEW.
Dirty Projectors - Initially very nice, bored by track 5
Animal Collective - I can kinda see what the fuss is about. Kinda.
Jamie T - Whereas...
Phantom Band - Skipped this one as I LOVE IT TO BITS.
Girls - Really don't get this band. At all. Will try again. Once.
The Horrors - Bought this already so skipped it, but it's competent.

Now on Muse and HEALTH. Cheers for doing this, rather handy.

Alcoholic Faith Mission

Possibly one of my faves of the year, the new Alcoholic Faith Mission album '421 Wythe Avenue' well worth investigating.
Very concise list, some good choices, not just gone for the critically hailed albums..nice.
