dunno why I'm talking about these here... I got distracted. DAFT PUNK RULE!
ahhh...the Gabrielle remix
I remember that from an amazing Jockey Slut (RIP) cover CD
I use to love Jockey Slut!
I use to get it quite a bit then went thru a period of not getting it for some reason and thought about it a year or so later and found it had died.
Jockey Slut love....
Interestingly I was chatting to Paul Benney on Twitter about Jockey Slut after Liam Maher died. Jockey Slut used to produce some wicked t-shirts of acid house heroes.
Paul and Jonno used to edit/own the mag and now run Bugged Out. Pretty much defined my whole music taste when I used to get the mag. Andy Weatherall, Derek Carter, DAFT PUNK...
@jimi I too stopped getting it and then it was shut down. Do you think it was our fault? Can't even remember why I stopped, don't think the quality changed. It was bi-monthly then monthly, I liked bi-monthly.
Best Daft Punk - I always recommend Scott Grooves, Mothership Reconection (Daft Punk)remix. I just think that squelchy bit (technical term) is the most daft Punk sounding noise ever.
I was wondering if it was my fault yeah....
SORRY JOCKY SLUT!
I loved loads of the Bugged Out stuff I have the first mix cd somewhere with Felix Da Housecat and Justin Robertson that was one of my faves for years.
great mix cd
highlights the funk/electro/acid house/techno in equal measure. Somehow the whole scene then felt so exotic!
We obviously have pretty similar tastes, should go raving sometime!
the quality of jockey slut didn't go down,
think they put the sleepy jackson on one of the last covers. maybe that put people off, different from their normal cover stars.
can't believe how lucky i was to start uni at liverpool in 1998, coinciding with bugged out starting monthly there. november 1998- daft punk, green velvet, dave clarke, justin robertson, surgeon, harvey, lo-fi allstars dj's, jon carter, midfield general, indian ropeman live. might be biased, but there's probably never been a better nightclub lineup.
went to bugged out at matter on saturday, tiga and optimo were brilliant, miike snow not so much. vibrating dancefloor is wicked.
yes, it is unlikely the
wire would give away a free poster of jimmy corkhill.
i'd like a read of them old js issues, only started getting it in '98 or so.
