Got Glasgow tomorrow night, Leeds on Friday, London on Saturday and Reading on Sunday. Yes!
Hey little shizzlet.....
any idea what time you'll be on the morrow night as i will be working a bit late and don't want to miss it?
If you ever, ever call me Little Shizzlet again, I will END YOU.
Only messing, call me whatever you like Lozzle-pan.
I'm not 100% what time we'll be on, but I think it'll be our call. We certainly won't be on until 10, I'd imagine.
It's free and ting!
:)
No bother shizzle, that should be cool for times. Will probably head down for about half 9ish.
You'll be the first disser i've met in person! So there.
First and the best, Lo-Pan
First and the best... It's customary for Scottish Dis'ers to buy English Dis'ers beers, so is the custom nowadays... ;)
see you tomorrow bud
Damn these customs.
:)
I'm gonna try and come.
And I'm out in town tonight but it's gonna be a 'bitching about work' night out for the peeps I'm with though, so I'll have to encourage them to get it out of their systems, and persuade 'em that Bar Bloc will be good times. :-)
A review, of sorts, of last night in Glasgow.
We'd been to eat Cafe Cossachok (a Russian restaurant) just before, so Bar Bloc (with it's loose Soviet theme) made a good fit as a follow up.
We arrived at five past ten to a clearly political acapella section, which aroused my mate's cynical toryboy sensibilities. So he was on the back foot from the off. Add to that the fact that my girlfriend accused me of internet grooming cos I'm/we're over 30, and they're a pair of young bucks... :-) Anyways... It was all good stuff. And I reckon my gf & mate were won over by the end.
Definitely deserved more of a crowd. But they were up against bonfire night and, having also put on (admittedly non-music) events myself, I know how hard it can be to get bodies through the doors. It must be quite frustrating performing to smaller audiences but I suppose they're young enough to be able to use small gigs to perfect their art.
Not that they need to concentrate on perfecting much in particular as it was all very accomplished and I can totally see how an Alt Track gig could work on a larger scale with a bigger crowd. Plenty of layers of noise coming from just two bods. Lots of energy. The acapella breakdown at the end rounded things off nicely.
Basically, a band that manages to pull together a mix of Rage Against The Machine, Asian Dub Foudation, Massive Attack, and a smattering of punk, reggae and drum & bass sensibilities, and manages to make it sound good, but without being a rip-off of any of 'em, deserves props.
I got the (very slickly packaged) CD and DiSclosed my DiS connections to the band.
I didn't go Lo-Pan hunting.
[Unnecessary & gratuitous dig: skinny white boys in baseball caps are a personal gripe of mine. :-P]
Ha didn't realise you were there TheWza, but then why would i as i have no idea what you look like.
I did a small type review on the social page. And i agree with the larger crowd thing i was imagining them on a big stage and thousands of folk having a right good dance to it. Good stuff.
Hahahaha and yeah my gf was winding me up with regards to my being 31 and meeting up with a couple of young chaps of the internet.
I think i was probably the chap sitting behind you.
Haha.
I was the one with a Guiness, sitting at the top of the steps, with my girlfriend (in a red coat) and a mate.
well that was me behind.
Oh so close to meeting 2 dissers in one night.
:)
It would have been too overwhelming.
But mebbes saying hello to a fellow old git would've shushed the ribbing I was getting about interet grooming. :-)
Cheers for coming bud! Appreciate you taking the time out to write a review too
Tour's going ace so far, got London tomorrow (Saturday), and Reading on Sunday. Great times!
Listening to your stuff now, really like it!
Nice mix between atmospheric spacey stuff and drum n bass weirdness. Great use of samples as well.
Thanks bud :) nice one for checking it out, glad it's all to your liking
I've been on the roooooad all day and need to hit the hay, but may write a better reply tomorrow!
peace x
nice one chaps
good luck
I swear i remember you saying you were going to Goldsmiths this year?
Is this true or was i thinking of someone else?
You've got it bang on
I was gonna be going, but I've taken at least another year out to focus on my band and ting! Been a good decision so far, will probably be going to London next year, but who knows
apologies
i've just asked the same lame question in another thread.
That's cool man, i was just going to say if you were at goldsmiths i could maybe help you on at playing at the SU, but no worries.
We'd love to play at the SU sometime, sure!
Touring again late Jan/Feb kind of time, so drop me a message if you get anything booked you'd like us for, would be really cool of you bud.
This has been a mint tour
Thanks to those who came and showed up, it was a pleasure seeing you.
Friday, Brighton, then lots of home town shows.
