so, which do you prefer after 5 days? i still prefer the first one.
which I listened to for the first time only a couple of days ago.
I can appreciate the debut, I like its noisiness and I can see its appeal, but Tarot Sport is the one that makes me want to listen to it again (and again).
But it SEEMS far better. And more varied.
I liked bits of the original, but always felt a bit non-committal to how decent it was. I always got the feeling that hundreds of people were spunking off at home pretending it was amazing, when they truly knew it was just a slightly too long EP?
Mostly because as much as I liked two tracks on Street Horrrsing, I never thought it was that great a record. I'm massively impressed with Tarot Sport though. I bought it mostly because I'd been paid, was parousing Fopp on my lunch break and fancied something to listen to, rather than out of any proper love for the band and it's brilliant. Surf Solar and Olympians are fantastic tracks. The whole blissed-out, euphoric 90s trance thing is really doing it for me, so much more than the relentness droning of the last album.
Yet to pick up this one though due to brokeness.
I feel a bit anxious it's all going to sound like Tiesto though.
Best be a bit weird.
Wasn't their remix the best bit on that weird little Manic Street Preachers remix album.
though they're both good. I still like Street Horrrsing a lot, but I do find the middle a bit of a chore
Feels a lot more accomplished and grand.
Street Horrrsing now sounds very small in comparison
I do like Tarot Sport, and it's got some immense sound going for it, but I prefer the rawness of the debut (and think that 'Bright Tomorrow' and 'Sweet Love For Planet Earth' are better songs than anything on the new album). That said, I've had a lot longer with Street Horrrsing...
I did enjoy listening to Street Horrrsing and it piqued my interest but its wasn't quite right as an album. You could tell they had some good ideas that needed to more fully develop and refine - that is what you get in Tarot Sport. It's up there with my albums of the year list now.
is great fun to listen to, although i still have reservations. I think this mainly centres around a part of one of the tracks thats dead similar to something on the new vitalic album but it doesn't have the drop... always gets me. But yeah, fun - not as incredible as other people are saying.
I can't stand Street Horrrsing.
and Street Horrrsing
like em both, kind of A LOT
because Horrrsing is a waste of effort.
so it's hard to say at this point. I miss the noise a bit - for the record I don't think there's many wasted moments at all on Street Horrrsing - but it definitely sounds more streamlined and focused now and more euphoric. It'll probably take a fair few listens to really judge, as it took me a while to get into some of the more 'challenging' stuff in the middle of the first album too.
Like the soundtrack to an Olympics montage, if the Olympics were held on Mir. And probably the best 'song' I've heard this year.
That link just took me to the thread, not a post in it.
Have I just been massively burned? HAVE I? I NEED TO KNOW
You described a soundtrack-in-waiting. Kinda what I was interested in hearing from others.
a fantastic album to listen to after a shit day at work when it's dark and hammering it down with rain on the walk to the train station.
Tarot Sport is awesome but in a less bleak way although The tail end of the Lisbon Maru track sounds horribly like Big Country to my ears.
Both 8/10 albums
