will pick for ATP?
Marble Valley are on good form at the moment.
Flying Saucer Attack (token reformation)
Pretty much everyone else from that scene is still in various bands (Matt Elliot, Rachel Brook, Matt Jones, Kate Wright etc. etc.) but Dave Pearce is no-where to be seen; so I don't whether they'd reform. Also, as it was largely just him, some mates, and occasionally Rachel Brook, I don't know it's a 'reformation' as such.
Sonic Youth as a surprise maybe?
..Mark E Smith like hate Pavement though? I'm sure I've heard him slag them off, although that was ages ago and if the price was right....
I saw Who's Afear'd at Wimborne Folk Festival. My friend almost started a fight with them when he suggested that they were yokels and that there was no civilised life beyond Bournemouth and Poole!
not sure but i reckon it will be a very varied selection.....i also reckon Sonic Youth will play...maybe Fiery Furnaces...i would like to see the Fuck Buttons there.
There's a tenuous connection in that Pavement covered "It's a Rainy Day...".
I don't really understand which one's which. It's confusing. They should do what other groups do and have The Real Faust or The Faust Experience or something.
so i imagine them. also sonic youth.
hopefully it wouldn't all be alt country stuff.
Just thinking though, how is this ATP going to work?
The tickets are mostly sold out right. The only band advertised is Pavement. Therefore everybody who's going wants to see Pavement.
Is there room for everybody to see Pavement? Am I going to have to stand at the front of the stage for 10 hours so that I get to see them? What if I need the toilet?
Will they need to play several times so everyone can see them?
If not there's no point any other bands playing simultaneously is there?
Which is big enough for everyone to see them. The good thing about the Minehead site is that it's really easy to get a good spot.
on the centre stage, with everyone having one of three wristbands i guess.
Don't big bands usually only play on the centre stage when there are sound/loudness issues? I wouldn't have thought this was an issue for Pavement.
(I realise it's way, way too early to be speculating about this).
played the Centre Stage twice when they headlined, who I imagine wouldn't have those issues.
too much low end.
pavement will play the pavilion.
The Dismemberment Plan got back together for a UK show. They do reunite in the US infrequently. That would make me very happy. Pavement and Dismemberment Plan. Imagine!
rather than a 'want to go but should I?'
when they play anyway.
Or at least that's how it worked at the only ATP I went to.
would be great but they are on a break at the moment.
Belle & Sebastian returning would be amazing.
but probably not likely, how abouta reformed Thinking Fellas, perfect for this ATP.
that would be AMAZE
If not them, then at least David Kilgour, sure he toured with Pavement back in the day
but i reckon times new viking is possible, what with them being on matador and well into their early pavement.
Some So Cal 80s punk
Free Kitten, Sprial Stairs, SM Jicks, Marble Valley probably
I recall malkamus name dropping them in the slow century documentary. Mebe?
