sort of reminders me of a zappa concept album
i've been selling off / donating most of my old CD singles though, so probably less now.
no jewel packaging tho.
I think I passed the 200 mark before, I traded a load of absolute rubbish in at computer exchange the other day.
I just found one downstairs that's mine
i've got the big 2 0 0!
x3 piled stacks next to it
x1 non piled amount next to those piled stacks
x1 box in my parents attic
x1 handful in the boot of my car
x1 handful in the nearside door pocket
x1 handful in my drawer at work
About 500 albums and EPs. Rougly 150 singles on CD.
Probably 80-100 7"s and 30-40 LPs.
I have 34 tapes though
I'm not sure though...
I love physical musical products! I'd go more digital if I trusted my computer and had cash for a nice sound card and speaker set up. But I've gone through like 3 laptops in the last 4 years and lost some stuff that I've not got round to backing up, yet my stereo has lated over 20 years until we decided to upgrade it.
700-900 CD albums, a couple of hundred CD singles. I might be underestimating the amount in the basement.
Tapes. Not many.
Vinyl. 5' row of 7" singles. 15' of LPs and 12" singles. I genuinely have never met anyone who has more vinyl than me who isn't a semi-pro or pro dj. (ex kiss dj steve jackson has lots of vinyl!)
None of this is impressive.
can't really be bothered to count
i.e. far too many
Still don't have anything to listen to though.
I seem to have this problem all the time as well. Just staring at my cd's for minutes on end thinking what to listen to. I thought perhaps it would become better now that I only have a third of my cd's with me, but no.
havn't had a count in a while though so it might be abit passed that. No singles, only albums or EPs
but need to throw a big chunk of them.
1500-2000. Scary when you think about it. I'm totally never moving house again.
150 of the best ones with me at uni though
100 or so tapes & 300 vinyl give or take
at least a third of them i can never imagine wanting to listen to again
7" x 250
LPs/12" x 250
CDs x 400 (inc cd singles)
it was around 150
hundred. This is now increasing exponentially now that I'm getting promos chucked at me left right and centre. It's getting hard to keep track of them all! Precarious stacks everywhere.
I thought that would be quite low compared to folk on this site, seems to be not too bad, wish I had more
Some e.ps too.
Need to get rid of a lot though. Anyone know anywhere that will buy em off you.
About 500 vinyl 12"s/LPs at an estimate
Maybe 200 7"s
300ish that aren't used to make the described slightly sleazy cd mirror above my bed
and maybe 50 singles
but I've sold a lot of stuff through amazon. I prune my collection obsessively so I only keep music I really love.
700 CDs, 400 7"s and 300 LPs
I try to be a minimalist when it comes to possessions, and I only get a CD if I really feel I must have the physical release, and if I don't like the artwork or don't think the package was well put together, I'll get rid of it. A lot of hip hop stuff I'll just buy digitally, most hip hop records suffer from horrible packaging that there's no reason to waste space with. The physical product must be appealing in all ways to pull me in, and I'm quite picky. Some all time favorites:
Joanna Newsom-Ys: Really glad that this has great artwork, this is one where you really need to sit down with the lyric book.
Sunn O)))-The Grimmrobe Demos: Reading that crazy text enhances the experience of having your brain crushed by the most intense sub-bass ever.
Boris-Pink: Inserts made to look like sheets of LSD, genius.
Anything by Phil Elvrum.
Battles-Mirrored: Guaranteed to make any musician drool.
you don't want your record collection to look too tasteful, right?
*does dr. evil finger to mouth* muhahahahahahaha
500 is a rough guess.
not bad for an 18 year-old student.
a depressing in any case.
i've seriously run out of space...
