But there are a lot of dudes out there with flannel shirts, beards and tattoos who treat Springsteen like some sort of iconoclastic ubermensch.
He is pretty great though. I think the topic heading is a little vague/ wrong.
you've got springsteen bummers like the gaslight anthem suddenly harping on about how much they love the beatles and is this going to be the start of a shift away from the boss to the fab four
people have been harping on about The Beatles and, to a lesser extent, Bruce Springsteen. They've each had their seeming little boom periods recently because they've both had some sort of release out. I'm not sure there's an indie/alternative phenomena to comment on.
There's no phenomenon. Both artists happen to be popular with a wide demographic because their music is easy listening. That's all there is to it.
I can never get the singular down with phenomena
The massive marketing regimes engaged in constantly promoting the interests of each artist does a lot to help as well, I'd say.
Whatever you think of them, The Beatles are history’s biggest band so it’s not like Josef K suddenly becoming the influence du jour. If there’s any fuss about them at the moment, it’s only because their records have just been re-released which is entirely unrelated to any band spaffing over them. The only evidence that *gulp* alternative musicians have taken a sudden spike in interest in them is if there have been a lot of Beatley-sounding things recently, and for the life of me I can’t think of a single one, or even any COMMENTS harping on about them. In fact, in the past year by my count, we’re on a net loss of Beatley-sounding bands with the recent shuttering of Oasis.
why did I read that in a scouse accent? I bet you've buried all you flannel clothes in the garden, you zeitgeist whore.
I started wearing these tiny circular glasses weeks before the re-issues hit the shelves
Haven't the beatles pretty much always been popular with the indie kids?
that I have never heard The Beatles
You can't honestly say that.

...you're telling me that you've never accidentally heard Yesterday parping out of a store's speakers, or even been a little intrigued about what Revolver sounds like? Cuntybollocks
I typed them out so I would be accepted on here :( The only one I've actually heard is Demis Roussos, you should check him out
That is all.
i saw an 'indie' supergroup playing beatles songs and it was sick.
