are fucking awesome. Why did it take me so long to realise?
Only discovered them recently on an End of the Road festival Spotify playlist but quickly realised how good they are.
Didn't get to see them at EotR because they clashed with The Hold Steady. Don't regret the decision but would love to have seen them as well.
I know Post to Wire pretty well and getting to know some of the other older albums.
What's the new record like?
...is pretty great.
I bought 'The Fitzgerald' a couple of months back and its fuckin brilliant.
I actually read both of Willy Vlautins novels before getting in to the band and would highly recommend them both too. very much in line with the style of music...also only £2 in fopp at the moment. Bargain.
you're on some mission to listen to anything and everything just to have an opnion on it, you're like... give me an A-Z of everything worth listening to ever... any good leaks around... this classic record is only ok... I rated a record highly and ate a sandwhich...
I know you have alot of time on your hands and love a bit of music like, can't knock that at all, hell I even love a sandwhich. But you seem to try and go out your way to listen to as much as you can just to have an opinion sometimes. I'm not relating it to this thread, I've no idea or interest in who Richmond Fontaine is at all it sounds like the name of some cheesey club singer from Scarbourough.
The thing that I don't get is that you are often on here trying to call people out on being cardigan wearing indie try hards but jeeeeez you really really really come off as being no diffrent at all to that very stereo type.
I dunno you just have this confusing vibe about you... I'm not really knocking it just trying to understand if you like music or just like to have opinions on anything that comes your way cos it makes people laugh when you go a bit flipant and northen.
i like the fact that he comes along and takes an axe to the sacred cows. makes things interesting.
not questioning that at all I've been about far to long not to notice that, I dunno you just confuse me a bit hahah
I guess I was just wondering about your motivation behind it all as you always seem to have such a sure opnion right away. Plus I know you've done writing and stuff in the past so thought it might be some kind of project of yours at times to get through lots of stuff and get an opinion on it. I dunno I guess I just thought you listend to a hell of alot and seem so sure of your musical opinions so fast, made me wonder about how you so it and why...
cos you're wrong. :)
New album is a delight.
Loving the video for the latest single
Great song though. Possibly my favourite single of the year.
So fucking lame, the rest of the video is lovely. Should have just filmed the band wandering around occasionally or not appear at all.
this is a much better video
Its a pleasant change to see people making a video under duress... :-)
Saw them in their hometown Portland, Oregon a couple of years ago and there was literally about ten people watching them in few hundred capacity venue (the very same venue that Mini Kiss supported by The Misfats sold out).
I've watched them play to decent sized crowds in London so was expecting a big welcome type thing for local heroes...
shame a large portion of the crowd were clearly Uncut reading twats with terrible gig etiquette.
