Music Social More…

The great clearout.

My Ipod (actually a creative zen) is full to the brim with DiS endorsed indie music, all of which makes for a wonderful listening experience; tuneful and adventurous in equal measure.

But after many months of Animal Collective, Wild Beasts, Grizzly Bear, M83, cut copy etc etc, I've had enough - I need a clearout. As the evenings get darker, so too my mood. I need something altogether more, i dunno, rock & roll.

Any recommendations for recent albums that quite simply, rock the shit out of most of the stuff covered here in this shrine to musical geekery?

All suggestions welcome, (no, my creative zen much prefers it where the sun DOES shine, thank you).

    • I would also suspect records by

Part Chimp and Joe Gideon & The Shark to be very good indeed.

And the Trail of dead one wasn't bad.

  • a random selection of totally rockin' records, from various periods and genres/styles, from the top of my head

    Coachwhips - bangers vs fuckers
    The Sonics - boom
Vivian Girls - everything goes wrong
Bad Brains - banned in dc (this is kind of a 'greatest hits' thing)
The Bronx - the bronx and the bronx II
    Crystal Antlers - EP
    Comets on Fire - avatar
    The Germs - MIA
The Hunches - yes. no. shut it.
    Jay Reatard - singles 06-07
    The Jesus Lizard - liar
    The Oh Sees - help
King Khan & The Shrines - what is?!
Stiff Little Fingers - inflammable material
Black Lips - let it bloom
Pissed Jeans - king of jeans
Mika Miko - We Be Xuxa and 666
    Minor Threat - complete discography
    Negative Approach - total recall
The Strange Boys - and girls club
    The Suicide File - twilight

    • I've been looking for that Hunches record for months

I'm convinced I'll one day find it, for about £7...

    • That's great

The more all over the place the better! I just want something that makes me want to play air guitar, or drum on nmy desk to the irritation of my colleagues at work.

  • Thee Oh See's

They hit the spot when it seems like all the best new music these days is a little too 'nice'. Crazy psychadelic garage rock or the best Addam's Family wedding band, either way - a good thing.
