Goog good.
Or good good.
been looking forward to this for a while!
How many tracks are on the album?
Seven.
All epic.
Cant wait.
I got the Surf Solar 7" but have yet to listen.
Turn that up LOUD.
Winner.
this has turned into my running soundtrack
it's making all my run seem EPIC!
fiddygent
you have made my day with that slice of greatness. thanks very much
planning a trip to portland in november
fuck buttons/growing
i'm going to this too!
tied in nicely with my usa trip! can't wait!
Yah, this record is growing nicely
Didn't hit me as immediately as Street Horrrsing, for sure, but I think it has a different appeal (i.e. vocals are gone, which is a shame, but then they've added new tricks too, so I think it's balancing out).
saw them last night in Brum...
the new stuff live is even better than the first album tunes which is a mighty fine feat.
yeah, this is a great record
Solar Surf is the weakest track on it.
*Surf Solar
yeah yeah I've been rinsing that mutha for a few weeks
the one twos of Lesbon Maru - Olypians and er, the penultimate track into Flight Of The Winged Serpant are just unbelievable
I'd say
Rough Steez is the one (the short sharp jab) and The Lisbon Maru is the two (the more extended blow).
It's actually the shorter tracks (Rough Steez and Phantom Limb) that I like best.
it's pretty damn symphonic whatever the case
I kind of see Rough Steez as a bridge between Surf Solar and Lisbon/Olympians, and Phantom Limb as the bridge into the last two, but so long as we're all agreed it's awesome...
olympians is pretty fucking awesome
the whole album is definitely better than the debut
I quite like the single
High hopes for the album
Looking forward to this immensely
Still haven't bought Surf Solar but off to get it after work today...
i love surf solar
it invokes images of surfing on a silver shortboard across the turbulent plasma seas of the sun.
and then bursting into a ball of flames
It's a better album than the first one, certainly.
The first one was just one idea over and over again - this sounds much more varied. There's still a bit of a lull in the middle, but it finishes strongly.
Just opening my promo now.
Excited beyond belief.
WHEN IS THIS OUT?
Ta x
Oct 12th
according to t'internet
Cheers
I'm still not 100% smitten on that debut, but their Fever Ray remix and recent single have won me over lots.
october 5th UK, october 20th USA
where did you see 12th? cheers
Errrrrrrrrr what?
In House, the PR agency who ATP have presumably employed, have the release date as Oct 12... um, but now looking at Amazon and Rought trade it would seem release date is the 5th, couldja clarify?
Just the first results that came out of google

thanks
that's soon, I'm a patient man! It's going to be a noisy end to next week then.
I wouldn't call this album noisy at all
goin to see them tonight in glasgow
looking forward to it, not seen them before
my girlfriend is coming and she fucking hates them ... all good then
pre-order
now available on our store:
http://www.atpfestival.com/Store.php
needs to be played LOUD
much better than the first effort.
I've heard this
I just don't get it. It strikes me as 'difficult' music that people are scared to say they don't like in case they are perceived to be 'uncool.'
They don't have any tunes. The songs don't do anything. It's just rubbish.
I'm going to listen again to see if I have overlooked them. I hope to come back admitting my initial ignorance. Let's see.
how on earth is it difficult music?
It's an accessible dance record with the right amount of dirt in the gears to not just wash over you.
I realise you're just trolling, but still, daft line of argument.
its odd
I can see why some would say Street Horrrsing is 'difficult' but somehow, despite not being a million miles away, I'd say Tarot Sport was definitely not difficult.
Just checked through it again.
It's crap.
You are all pretending to like them. Admit it.
As my old Nan used to say, "I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire."
You're exactly right.
That's why I love Fuck Buttons! It's so I can be cool and bask in the adoration of the throngs of people who think I'm so cool for listening to Fuck Buttons! If it means my entire life is a lie, so be it because...*SOB*...I've got to be cool!
God, you're a fucking loser. Get a life. Just because you're too stupid to understand it doesn't mean that those of us who do are "pretending."
I guess you think we need to be listening to white boys with acoustic guitars, so you're opinion's shit anyway.
"just because you're too stupid to understand it"
One has shot oneself in the foot, it seems
I liked the start of your reply. But it trailed off toward the end there.
But at least it had DIRECTION! That's good.
Oh and...
It's "YOUR opinion's shit anyway"
That's actually true.
The rest of what you've said is very wrong.
And you should learn how to reply.
Didn't I reply?
I thought I had?
Did I make an internet faux pas?
I like you Luis. You have fire in yer belly. I guess we just have a massive difference in tastes here. I notice you like the boredoms. I saw them at ATP once and I didn't get them either. Maybe I should be less venomous when spouting my opinions.
I still bet my Nan wouldn't have liked them though.
I would suggest saying what it is about them you don't like.
As opposed to this "pretending to like them" fallacy. There are plenty of bands that make literally no sense to me, take Kings Of Leon. But I don't doubt that there are people who sincerely enjoy their music.
I love this album
Definitely in my Top 10 of the year. Walking along with Lesbon Maru and then Olympians blasting through your iPod probably isn't very good for your ears, but it sure is amazing.
agreed
This is a cracking album and a very satisfying listen. When it finishes I feel like I've just had the musical equivalent of a 3 course meal. I'm happy but full and would love to do it again, though not straight away.
it's great, probably in my top 5 records of the year
it feels much more euphoric than the first record. More dancable too, though i'm not sure how this would go down on an electro or techno night...
Olympians and Flight Of The Winged Serpants are my current favourites.
I think HEALTH do the post-noise-dance-rock thing a hell of a lot better
HEALTH have the live sexy loose feel to them, full of adrenalyn fuelled almost liquid grooves, they flow from section to section so easily and have that massive tribal intensity. Fuck Buttons sound like a robot tryed to make 90's chart trance but broke half way through and went a bit distorted, its all rigid and pradictable. I can see HEALTH breaking off into loads of strange new direction but FB already seem played out somehow or close to it. I almost like bits of what they do and I'd love it if the proved me wrong but its not quite doing it for me. I know the two arn't massivly comparable but I just keep thinking whenever I whack on any FB, I wish I was listening to HEALTH...
I don't really agree, and I'll tell you why
Just listen to HEALTH's We Are Water through to the end.
Don't you now just long for Fuck Buttons to come in?
I would like a album with them doing alternate tracks.
I think HEALTH would be a good Fuck Buttons rhythm section
I dunno FB just seem clunky and lack a bit of something for me, I like that they are striving for some epic euphoric rush but I always feel let down by what coems out. There is a faint smell of cheesey trance/progresive scandinavian big room house music to alot of this new stuff, but you know distorted...
There was a time when I could hear a Scottish reel in one of the new FB tracks
i don't think it's fair to compare them
they're both really different in so many different ways. They're both noisy, sure, but HEALTH often complete their multifaceted songs within about 4 minutes, whereas FB often build upon one simple idea until it's white noise, which takes them about 9 minutes or something. Also i think HEALTH are much darker than FB, certainly on the basis of their new records.
I love them both, but i would never of thought to compare them.
I know its only a vauge comparison
I think they are both on simular pages, fashioning slighly noisey soundscapes into free flowing almost dance like shapes. Its just they go about it diffrently. And I always find myself wanting to stick on HEALTH whenever I hear FB. I still need to let both the new albums sink in more though.
I must be missing something
maybe someone's pulled off one of those sneaky switcheroos and changed the ID3 tags on some pretty decent trance record so that people think it's the new Fuck Buttons album. ("Serves you right for illegally downloading music", etc., etc.)
I say this because, for the life of me, I would never in a million years think to use the terms "noise" or even "experimental" to describe the FB album I've been listening to (except maybe through the phrase "HINTS of noise/distortion"). Yet everyone keeps going on about it as some noise record.
I get the sense that their first album was a bit noisy, so that might explain it, but — really — there's virtually nothing in the new album to warrant that description or comparisons to HEALTH or suggestions that it's somehow innovative/experimental, is there? It is "merely" a (damn fine) trance album, no?
no
it only annoys me a bit cos I kinda like their ideas and want to like what they do but its not quite there for me. I wouldn't care if it was total pap.
I didn't actually mean that to be directed at you specifically, jimi
Just quite surprised at the recurring references to their noise.
As for what they do, trance was always my preference back in the day, so this album suits me fine. But I can sympathise with the frustration when you can hear something in a band that you think they're just not making the most of.
oh I know I was just chatting
I think they are kinda noisey but its a restrained shaped noise rather than full on in ya face sort of thing.
Well as I waited for the proper release* I'm only just getting around to enjoy it
And it's fucking fantastic isn't it? Like the most epic OST to the most epic indie travel documentary ever. It reminds me of lots of things I loved about electronic music back in the 90's.
I REALLY need to buy some new headphones to enjoy this thing properly...
* 10 team points please Jamie
