deserves to be on far more end of decade best of lists than it will be.
going to listen to George Washington right now
The Lost Riots is pretty good, especially the first half (The Black Amnesias is a stunning opener). I felt it tailed off a little in the second half though.
There was a lot of potential, a shame it was only fitfully present on the second album, where I really liked about two or three songs, but the rest just felt like it could have been A N Other guitar band.
I can still find no better way to begin an album than 'the black amnesias'.
It's an emotional juggernaut from start to finish.
i mean, it is pretty obvious and sounds a lot like 'that sort of thing' should sound.
Great great album, was the first band I really got into at Uni. Fantastic live too (despite Sam being the most tone-deaf frontman since Ian Brown)
shame they had to make 'Left' afterwards.
And Left wasn't THAT bad. But it was made to look worse by the soundtrack they did to their tour diary thing which came with the limited edition version.
But it's not a patch on the Dust Rackets EPs they put out. For free, no less.
Also, Troubles (many of whom were in HotS) are the best live band I've ever seen; and their album Wolf is possibly the best I've heard. But that's another story.
...the way I listened to music. Fact.
Incredible album from start to finish and one of the best live bands I've ever seen. Left wasn't great but there are still some cracking songs on it.
I miss them.
Was my favourite album for a long while at uni, and I managed to catch them around 5 times about the release of Lost Riots. Really good live band!
And I still know almost every word! Good, good times..
im listening to 1776 right now
Good band. Not sure if this would make my Best Of the decade though.
