Which is nice.
patchy and uneven slowly mutates over the years to be legendary... the reviews at the time expressed more relief that they turned up than how great the show was.
Can I blither on with the usual "I woz there LOLz OMG" bit? I met L7! It's the only good rock n roll story I have really except a good 60,000 people have the same story, so... It would have been great to have had footage from the whole day on the dvd as Nirvana more or less curated the line up on the main stage (the comedy tent blew away in a gale and the second stage was shut due to danger most of the day). But would love to see footage from the melvins, beasties and teengae fanclub, and bjorn again doing teen spirit of course...! The pavement set is on youtube and is bloody brilliant so here's hoping for something in the future.
One thing though, the main story people say is that no one knew if they would turn up til the last minute, but kurt cobain was quite visibly hunched by the stage laughing his ass off while mudhoney had a huge mud flinging fight with the audience...
were just amazing that day. Wandered off during Nirvana, think I might have even pulled a 'liked them before they were famous, not as good as last year' strop about them being a bit patchy. Felt pretty stupid standing on my own watching the Rockingbirds in a big empty tent I can tell you.
Thanks for the heads up on the Pavement set. Off to watch it now. Too too good.
as much of a fan on the late period NIRVANA as i am i think this gig looks prety ordinary with hindsight.
whats the fuck's that guy doing dancing all the way through?
when I was 13 the local record fair had a vast selection of nirvana bootlegs on cassettee for £2, I must have listened to this one hundreds of times in my life but not for 15 years or so, scarey
As I recall they were the most amazing thing that I'd ever seen.
