So 6 weeks ago I decided that from September 1st I'd be closing Walnut Tree Records and putting up the "indefinite hiatus" signs that hang over a lot of bands these days. I just didn't see that I was making a difference to the music scene, to the bands, to people listening to music and I was pretty set on today being the day I announced it. Six weeks later and I've suddenly had coverage in Kerrang & Rock Sound (which is a big deal to me), released a very successful charity compilation (over £300 donated and over 2000 individual downloads), sold orders to a host of far flung places (Japan and Brazil being the last two), had a lot of contact with some very complimentary people, and had more and more interest each day. It's given me a huge lift and a new lease of life with this label. Off the back of all of this I'm hoping to announce at least two new bands and releases soon - so to celebrate this I wanted to have a big sale from my store...
Every item is £1 including free postage (so you're essentially getting them for about 30p if bought individually) from http://walnuttreerecords.bigcartel.com/ until Friday afternoon at around 3pm. I'm going on holiday after that, so it seemed easier to stop it there.
Bayonets - Wishes & Wishes (covered in Rock Sound and Kerrang last month, great reviews from Punktastic & AP.net among others)
Portman - these songs were written in bedrooms & village halls (reviewed in this month's Rocksound)
Portman - from here to your eyes and ears (13 tracks!)
Waiting For Sirens self title debut (for fans of something corporate, jack's mannequin, mae).
Portman t-shirts (not many sizes left, but for 30p once I've paid your postage...)
256mb USB sticks including all of my recent releases in mp3 (sorry, no Paige...just can't bring myself to promote them).
Alternatively you can get a copy of the first four releases for £3.50.
Let me know if you have any questions about the sale. I'd also love to hear from you if you'd like to help me with my label in any way. It's just me...so some help would be lovely!
