Are they literally insane? I like Brand New, but good god, that will be absolutely awful!
I don't think it's that bizarre really. Tickets for their last few London shows have sold out almost instantly and have been massively over-subscribed. They've sold out venues that hold close to 6,000 people and still had to turn away custom. They'll get enough people at Wembley to make money out of it (or at least break even), even if they don't sell it out).
I fear they may be going for a big show because they don't intend to come over here very often any more.
i think they will never in a month of sundays sell out that venue.
they were outstanding at the manchester apollo in 2007, but have got progressively worse every time i saw them since then. they stunk at leeds on the mainstage at the weekend, they really did. they lack the charisma/presence/stage show and sound to pull of a venue of that size if you ask me. good luck to them though, hopefully jesse will get on the treadmill and shed the blubber too.
I think they have a bit of an anti-charisma. I like the fact that they seemingly don't care about putting on a 'performance' as such. The first time I saw them they were over here with Finch and I've seen them on every subsequent tour they've done and thought they were brilliant each time. Festival performances are notoriously shit so even though it would bug me if I'd been there, I wouldn't read too much into it.
I'm not sure I really buy into the ideas people seem to have about big venues. If they play well, the tech crew set up properly and the audience are up for it, it'll be a good show, regardless of where it is. And like I said above, Wembley isn't too inordinately large compared to places they've played in London before anyway. I guess we'll see.
please can they bring them over here too, (not that Daryl wouldn't pull out...)
Finished on a Neutral Milk Hotel song...Beautiful!
Although very few people around me seemed to have any idea what it was.
...with the above. They were fantastic at Glasto, although not a very big crowd it has to be said.
Wasn't sure I wanted to go but I just can't risk it being the best show ever and regretting it for the rest of my life. Bring on either Glassjaw or Manchester Orchestra or mewithoutYou for support please.
are usually ace.
glassjaw, manchester orchestra, thrice, kevin devine, moneen have toured with them in the past.
just spotifying their latest album. Lovely stuff.
shame some space-head girls behind me were chatting and cackling through most of their set at Reading, i kept turning round and giving them LOOKS but apparently their inane conversation is more interesting to everyone than a great band.
if you want to have a chat but see the band a bit, STAND AT THE BACK
way off topic here sorry
Oh, if only the BBC would stick them (and Brand New) on iPlayer.
Mean Everything To Nothing is an excellent album. Many thanks to the user on DIS who posted a letterman youtube vid that turned me onto them :-)
the first time i saw them at hammersmith apollo in 2007(?) was one of the best gigs of my life EVER.
they were good in birmingham too but obviously not really bothered at Reading fest.
i want them to play the apollo again, not stupid soul-less wembley.
i bet i'll have to pay a fiver for a 4.5% small bottle of cider in there too.
i love you with all my heart, brand new, why dont you love me back? :'(
Fuck it, it's been years since I saw a band there and it was pretty good last Sunday when I went to watch loads of dinosaurs wander about...
Tickets are almost £29 with seetickets bastard booking fees of doom.
BUY NOW BUY NOW
i forgot they went onsale today
don't worry, here's hoping they bring Manchester Orchestra back, and Glasjaw, or head automatica, and Blick 182, and weezer...
