And, in fact, with Ninja Tune generally? Thanks!
But my favourite is '10th Avenue Freakout'
First off I'd recommend 10th Avenue Freakout - it's halfway between the most accessible and most interesting (and has The Rabbit on it, which is one of the finest songs I've heard) then Ether Teeth, which is in my top 5 albums - almost exclusively acoustic, but with sounds of vinyl and birdsong thrown into the mix.
If you can find it, though, get the Hummer EP; it's the pinnacle of Andy's output; somewhere between Ether Teeth and 10th Avenue Freakout in style; folky but experimental, with a wee bit of jazz thrown in for good measure.
To my mind, the most underrated band of recent decades, I should add. Incredible stuff.
thank you both. Will hit eMusic and report back....
is easily my favourite. I just love it. As mentioned above, the Hummer EP is also really good (Cockeyed Cookie Pusher is such a great song), and probably more immediate. Then maybe I like the first album, then 10th Avenue, and then Ditherer least- it's just too band-like for me. The opposite of Ether Teeth.
also, Melted Crayons and Stink of Kings are pretty great - the latter has the best line of any song I've heard; "flags can't get stars right / cause they take them down at night". Genius.
Ditherer is far from their best, but it's better than pretty much anything else from that year; What's Up Freaks is every bit as beautiful as a Fog/Low collaboration ought to be, for one thing.
Is one of my favourite mix albums I reckon, thats on Ninja Tune and has alot of their artists on it too mixed in with stuff from all over the place.
I've got no idea about Fog though...
