i was on my sofa, watching TOTP on the telly
I was escorted from the building.
I think that bit was edited out, it was too 'real' for the BBC or something.
but I remember where I was when I first saw this
What an episode!
Maybe in two or three years time I'll look at this video and remember how I was oblivious to it, then how I wasn't and be happy that I found it again.
At the time, I thought that this was the most amazing TOTP performance ever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8UAQ4CeNiE
pretty well i must say
Today, it sounds a bit weak! I also watched Gnarls Barkley at the time on the tv. This thread doesn't really work does it? Fatally flawed. There are only two possible answers. TOTP2 or TOTP.
Unless you were on a rollercoaster at Busch Gardens watching it on your iphone youtube. In which case ur doing the rollercoaster wrong.
said that she preferred Avril Lavigne's 'Sk8r Boi' to 'Complicated' because it was "heavier". Crazy how heavy things seem to be when we're younger, then you grow up and realise "This suitcase is empty".
WHOS THE IDIAT KNOW HUH?
i was about 6, and thought it was the most boring song of all time.
and was remembering watching Pyramid Song on TOTP. How odd. Brilliant performance though, and I believe R.E.M. were on the same show.
I had pyramid song on now 49 when i was ten and also thought it was unbelievably dull :(
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlauD8Pcvc8 and it being the first time I heard my mum say the word 'shit'
scared me for life
say "well I liked listening to my sister's Levellers records when I was little bit this was the thing that blew my mind http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-aIFKvWHvM".
(I might tinyurl it so it's easier to remember)
Bizarre/terrifying to think how influential this must have been on my 10 year old mind at the time.
but basically what i'm saying is this: how fucking awesome is this video? I was blown away when i saw it, a rare moment of pure musical genius amongst the blandness that made up TOTP at the time. I am a sucker for a martial beat though
Does the martial beat remind you of your glory days in the foreign legion?
the martial beat is too much a part of my life. Nowadays i have a 12 year old Cuban boy constantly following me round with a snare, just tapping out a martial beat as i walk. And he's only £1 a day! Check it
I thoguht it had ended by then.
The main Totp I remember watching was the Oasis blur one.
I was really young and waiting for corrie to come on with my mum but my brother was dying to see who was number 1. I remember haaaating blur
was the one on LATER... with the masks. altho it's not on Ye Tube.
the drummer's sick on this version, makes the song
which can only be a good thing.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30fezZ6j9Cs - so clean cut, so presentable, what a lovely song!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hMqpR9AogI - OH GOD WHAT IS THIS I DON'T EVEN
My friend was round for dinner. My mum had Top Of The Pops on the telly and then my friend said 'look, my Dad's on telly!'. And there was his dad, on Top Of The Pops. It was pretty cool.
where I was when i saw this Totp performance!
