Where should I start?
I don't think I've heard a single song of theirs...
but their best song is Alice Wading on She Has No Strings Apollo.
but I'm a big fan of the album Whatever You Love You Are which is rarely mentioned when folk talk about them. The last album, Cinder, isn't too indicative of their previous output as I think a fair chunk of the songs are under the 5 minute mark while the earlier stuff can be a bit longer than that. In order I'd go for WYLYA, Ocean Songs, She Has No Strings Apollo, Horse Stories then Cinder.
Whatever you love you are is my favourite. Some summers they drop like Flys is easily their best song.
I'm waiting on another date to be announced around the ATPs.
There must be one, surely?
It's my favourite along with Ocean songs, but has more variety in the music. Some summers they drop like flies is amazing, but I don't rate the rest of WYLYA are highly. They are all very good mind.
A really good starting point and Sue's Last Ride and Hope are two of the most gorgeous pieces of music you're ever likely to hear.
Whatever You Love You Are and Ocean Songs are both staggering mind - as said above, Some Summers They Drop Like Flies could well be their best song.
You can't go far wrong any way though, their output is consistently quality.
...thanks for the suggestions everyone, Horse Stories has been purchased.
...but since no-one's mentioned them yet... the self-titled one with Everything's Fucked and Indian Love Song is superb, and Sad & Dangerous (the first one) has Kim's Dirt - amazing song and the first one I heard by them. Can still remember my head opening up! Ocean Songs my favourite tho I reckon.
make Ocean Songs your next one, followed by Whatever You Love, You Are (or Some Summers... at least). when you've completed your Dirty Three collection, you might wanna get The Burden of Hope by Grails as that has a similar sort of feel to Dirty Three and is really ruddy good.
Was the first album (mini album) I got of there's.
The first track 'To Asker', is the kind of song you hear and things aren't quite the same again. It's got an intensity to it.
Just incredible, band of the festival for me.
Probably ocean songs and cinder.
Also try and find their cover of suzanne. It's pretty boss.
Flutter is my favourite song of theirs.
SO good every time I've seen them.
Just see them live and then catch up after. I find it more rewarding, personally.
