In the Fishtank. This should be very nice!
I was taken by surprise when I saw the review in Wire - I've been waiting for quite a while for them to do something in the studio together and hadn't heard any mention of it before. Good times.
Other exciting collaborations coming up: Nadja and Pyramids, Peter Broderick and Machinefabriek, Autechre and Hafler Trio (again), Chas and Dave (probably a lie).
they do record them in two days, so i suppose it was in out, boom - record.
as in the post metalish band from texas!? Say yes ...
I wouldn't describe them that way, but yes. There's a track here: http://stereogum.com/archives/new-pyramids-with-nadja-another-war-stereogum-premiere_085311.html
It's pretty wonderful.
Kind of what you might expect, although there's one track which almost sounds like Autechre. Definitely hearing more of Fennesz than Sparklehorse (although admittedly, I've only ever heard about 30 seconds of Sparklehorse's music).
The Wire really liked it as well, so hopefully it should live up to expectations. The more Fennesz-y the better as far as I'm concerned, though I do like Sparklehorse.
this has already leaked
While we're on the subject of Fennesz collaborations. I'm indifferent to the majority of his stuff but Blemish and the song he did with Fennesz at the same time on Venice are amazing. Fennesz appears on the new one as well which I've pre-ordered on the basis of this month's hype in The Wire.
tune i heard sounded great.
