So I've just started listening to Future Of The Left.
And they are absolutely fucking incredible. A mate lent me Curses the other day and I bought Travels With Myself And Another. I don't think I've ever had a band on such heavy rotation and I really can't think of any superlatives that would properly convey how brilliant they are. Currently the best band in the world?!
I'm now going back an discovering Mclusky too - not anywhere near what I normally listen to, but I'm absolutely loving it. Altogther now "Our old singer is, a sex criminal..."
:D
I love it when this happens. When you hear a band for the first time and just know you're going to love everything they've ever done/will do.

welcome
we've been expecting you. Come on in, grab a pew, help yourself to a beer. Just don't sit on Colin.
Hi.
Ah. What a very pretty pussycat...
I wish I could go back to that moment of discovery
Such a fun and brilliant band.
Imagine the fun you're going to have...
...when you get to go see them live
Actually, there's a moderate chance
my band will be local support for them soon, but I don't want to get to excited in case a) it doesn't happen. b) I burst!
...
not enough interviews, i want more :(

has some vid of new album too.
Their forum has some good links on there to various things

They did a great Reading preview where they just went through the running order pointed out what kind of hair the artists would likely have. And there are a few good mp3 ones on there.
There was a great interview on Channel 4's site too which featured the line about America: "They confuse being Irish with being a twat who wears a hat. And don't get me wrong, that's part of being Irish but not the entire experience..."
But that's down at the moment alas.

This my favourite interview of any band of all time. Bar none.
DIS should spearhead a campaign to get Falco on Nevermind The Buzzcocks...
Quite how fucking Lightspeed Champion gets on when Falco or Kelson don't baffles me...
I know how you feel
:D
I'll agree with your bold claim.
FOTL are more consistently awesome than Mclusky. They've now only done one album less, and the overall quality levels of both albums are a lot higher. If the third album is of equal brilliance, they'll be a much better band than Mclusky ever were.
I love them, I like Mclusky but I love Future of The Left, there's not one song of theirs I don't like.
There's only one for me
That track off of the first single, 'The Fibre provider'.
It's not terrible, just not as great as the rest...
me too!
Finally got around to listening to Travelling With Myself and Another on Spotify last night and loved it, immediately listened to Curses straight after it, then went and ordered both CDs!
Although when I got to Manchasm I realised I had heard and seen the video for it on MTV2 last year, but at the time for some reason it never clicked.
Want to see them live now! They played Leeds fest last year and I didn't go and see them, don't suppose they're playing this year are they?
They are I think. you lucky thing.
seeing them at offset, then again a week later. Yay for me.
Get in!
I hope this becomes a self-perpetuating FOTL appreciation thread.
I only heard of them really recently and it's really staggering the numbers of people who are-really into music who've never heard of them.
For anyone who isn't going yet and is in or around London
You really ought to get tickets to the upcoming Fandango night in Spetember.
For a start, FOTL are playing. Secondly, Kong are playing, who FOTL fully endorse and who are equally as awesome. Thirdly, Fandango always choose good bands so the other 2 or 3 will likely kick ass too...
Rather worryingly this date isn't on their upcoming tour itinery I just got on Facebook
I hope that's merely an oversight. However if anyone is in Canada or the U.S. in October and was off to see Trail of Dead, you'd be getting a FOTL support set prior to their appearance on stage it'd seem.
Nice...
I noticed that too. There's no way you can message fan pages either, is there?
I want to know what's going on. The U.S tour photos are good. I made some hilarious comments. Simply brilliant.
Nice work Kiddle
I imagine it's just left out by accident. There's a 4 day gap in the schedule it snuggly fits into...
How can I say this without looking like a stalker?
I probably can't...
Kelson messaged me on Facebook to say that it is indeed happening, so fear not people. Now go forth and buy some tickets.
If you'd have said 'my mate Kelson'
You could have scored loads of cool points, girls would want to be with you, guys would want to be you, dogs would want to hump your legs in preference to anyone elses.
But yeah, as phrased, just sounds like you're stalking him.
But that would have been lying my friend.
If it had been Jack however...
Ooh I dunno?
Doesn't sound ideal though...
Maybe they're rearranging some dates?
Haha
I was recommended 'Travels' when hanging out with DiSer SoundofBastards a couple of weeks ago - I didn't really 'get it' with first listen, and then BOOM I seemed to have listened to it about 12 times in 3 days. WEIRD. I effing love it.
KUDOS, SOUNDOFBASTARDS! Kudos.
Listening to Travel right now
can't make my mind up.......loved Curses, this one sounds a tad samey....
Give it a while
I wasn't sure it was gonna bet better than curses until about 3rd listen. Both albums seem to have one or two incredible sand out tracks (Manchasm, Small Bones on Curse and Arming Eritrea, The Hope That House Built and Throwing Bricks at Trains on 'Travels'). I think thats probably personal taste though cause they're the most poppy and thats closer to my normal sphere of musical taste.
I AM THE FEARSOME BROWN
I'm gonna get that put on a t shirt. Anyone wanna join me?
I could get one that says 'Reginald J. Trumpsfield'
WE COULD BE PARTNERS.
it's Reginald J. Trottsfield
thats how I was hearing it, so I checked. Cause I'm smug git and I love to be right.
Yeah
give it a bit of time.
As soon as you've heard Throwing Bricks at Trains a few times you'll know...
just gave the new album a spin there.
fucking CLASS
Classic

you know how when Curses came out
and everyone was like "wow, best thing ever". And then some of the more discerning ones began to realise "actually, this is quite empty, and shallow, and not even that well put together, and is the very definition of a short term album". I'm waiting for the second wave of critical thought on this TWMAA
