Does it bother anyone else how early Pitchfork is doing their Songs of the 00's list?
Firstly, they're leaving out almost 1/20 of the decade. Seems small, but who knows what could happen. Possible events.
- New Radiohead is speculated to drop Monday. Who knows, it might outdo all of In Rainbows, HTTF, Amnesiac, and Kid A. Probably not, but it might have some fucking amazing tracks.
- The Blueprint 3. It might kick some ass. It's Jay-Z with Kanye, it probably will have at least some lasting tracks, like all of his albums (except maybe Kingdom Come)
- Attention: Deficit by Wale. Come on, it's Wale, and it has production from Cool & Dre, DJ Green Lantern, AND David Andrew Sitek. What could be bad about this? It's, with no doubt in my mind, gonna have contending tracks.
That's just some of it, who knows what else could bust out and make us go OH SHIT!. There might still be that new Vampire Weekend LP this year, who knows.
- They're probably excluding a lot of other recent songs, seeing as how often times lists are biased towards earlier albums, since people don't want to include tracks they think may just me temporarily great. This is, I assume, why Pitchfork themselves had to redo their best of the 90's albums.
