I have tickets to see both on the same night. Who would you choose out of these two gents?
Where is Bird playing?
Also, how WAS Damo Suzuki the other night?
I didnt go and see Damo Suzuki, i only said i was to make a really shite joke with my username.
well Andrew Bird was brilliant earlier this year; so much so that I'm seeing him again in a month or two. Quality of the venue will make a difference though.
I have a similar predicament in Brighton this cominf Tuesday when both Bill Callahan and Wooden Shjips are playing on the same night. Arghh! Think it'll have to be Callahan though seeing as i havent seen him live before.
but I am positive Andrew Bird will be a much, much better live show. I've seen him twice in the past year. All the performance footage I've seen of Callahan is just your standard dude standing there with an acoustic guitar.
But Andrew Bird live was breathtakingly impressive stuff. Especially watching him loop himself over and over again, building up the songs in pieces. It's amazing.
callahan was defo better. he has a band now. bird covered smog's cold blooded old times not very well.
i'm so hesitant about seeing callahan tomorrow night. the first couple of times with just him & a drummer was magical. but the last time i saw him at st. james's church, with a full band, was one of the most disappointing gig.
andrew bird on the other hand is always entertaining & charming.
Just drums, bass and Bill on guitar. That was the US tour, I'm assuming it's the same band here.
Off to see Bird on Saturday at Green Man then Bill Callahan in Bristol next Weds. Can't wait!
is it really with jim white?! 'cos that'd be bloody brilliant.
Bill C probably just edged it for me. Although it is true that Andrew Bird moves around the stage more, Bill has the better songs.
Sunday night was all about Grizzly Bear and Dominique A for me though :-)
