Very good, but I feel like I've started on the wrong album.
The previous one, Let Love In is my favourite. Murder Ballads is a bit too much for one sitting, a characature of a Bad Seeds album.
The quieter, more personal songs from that period ended up as The Boatman's Call, also very good but both albums are not as multi-faceted as his other records. The last couple are good but I don't like his singing style so much these days.
I couldnt keep up with the complete story / body count, but noticed the same characters from previous tracks cropping up, so I assume it is meant as whole story / 'concept' album.
I'll check out Let Love In on spotify tonight. I have a feeling I'm going to get really into him. He is super suave.
not as hard to absorb at murder ballads but I still maintain that Murder Ballads is the more rewarding.
Just cos it's very very very good.
