ok, ok, hands up who's looking at the end of this year as an opportunity to tell everyone your favourite 50 albums of the 2000s, or something. sad, isn't it? well, i for one am looking forward to it, and even went so far as to draw up a longlist last night. sadder, isn't it?
the idea occurred that, because there's a kinda gap in my music collection towards the early part of this decade compared to the middle and latter parts, i musta missed loads of good albums from then. so, i thought, why not ask disers to recommend an album from each year in the 2000s, one year at a time.
so, recommend an album released in the UK in 2000 to us all! i'll start:
Lambchop - Nixon.
i love this album because it's subtle, lyrically very droll and full of really gentle hooks. it's nashville music that's not that country, it's a concept album that isn't really a concept album. and its best track is called "Up With People" and features the celebratorially-sung line "we are screwing...up our lives today!". now you recommend one
