Yay! Gig at Dingwalls on 7th September.
it's been... ten years? nine? whenever the last time they did a christmas gig at dingwalls was. i hope thom doesn't turn up. not because i hate him but because they deserve all the attention.
Beyond El Presidente, which is of course awesome. What's worth listening to?
NEARLY EVERYTHING ELSE THEY EVER DID IS BETTER THAN EL PRESIDENTE!
i like white magic for lovers best (it has el president on it)
but the first s/t album is close close close to my heart and i think it's most people's favourite.
songs for the jetset is weak in comparison
there's nothing useful on spotify
you can get white magic for £1.75 on amazon
s/t seems to be £7.46 - both for a tenner is a bargain
is very near my top10 album of all time...
And live (and I've seen them twice) they were absolutely brilliant !
And I think they played a gig 2/3 years ago. They never officially split, anyway.
isabel monteiro is one of the best people i've ever seen
a shame I can't be in London around that time...
fucking DRUGSTORE. i never thought i'd ever get to see them again...
went up a couple of weeks back
I recently befriended Isabel on my brief flirtation with twitter and something got lost in translation when she thought i was criticising drugstore fans (which would be foolish considering I am one) and she said some strange things and then blocked me. Soured any good memories of the store I had.
and can confirm that she appears to be bordelrine unhinged on there. i think there's *a lot* getting lost in translation, so i wouldn't take it personally.
i follow her too and she comes across quite sweet, no more unhinged than she ever was, which was a bit. in an awesome way.
They were better then I remember. Isobel was just as crazy and mesmerising as ever. They played everything I wanted to hear except for Starcrossed. More please.
Could've done with a more bit noise, bit less mindless rambling, but it was entertaining, and I guess she had a lot to say given it's been so long...
The Turin Brakes guy did very well on El Presidente, it sounded phenomenal live.
And the Led Zep cover ? Coooool cello solo....
so, so special. so happy to have them back. let's hope they stay back. fuck. that was amaaaaazing. and i <3 the mindless rambling too. and daron still sounds so SWEET.
they'll be back in Paris someday...
