...mostly. I forget what they're all called; Make Believe? Ghosts and Vodka? Cap'n'Jazz? I love TTNG and Wintermute but never feel compelled to listen to the mathy plinky plonk guitars of those lot... I listen to them for the songs.
You could also try:
Hot Club De Paris - for something poppier
Marvin's Revolt - for something more Danish
Dartz! (RIP) - for something more disco
Don Cabarello and Slint for Hreda... or do you only like bands in TTNG's top myspace friends? ;)
being TTNG and Wintermute.
but they have a lot of the mathy twiddly guitar sounds going on
Sharks Keep Moving: www.myspace.com/sharkskeepmovingfans
and Colour but they're splitting up ;_;: www.myspace.com/colouruk
Maps & Atlases
Owls etc. (KINSELLA)
Sharks Keep Moving
And So I Watch You From Afar
Big yes to Algernon Cadwallader
And wow, that Dartz! blog was a bit abrupt. But it was eventual. Dartz! have always been rather good at what they do, but they seemed to have limitations in everything down to musicianship and vocals. They knew how to pen a tune like (Once, Twice Again, St. Petersburg) but I didn't think they had much potential and were probably struggling financially like everyone else.
Loose Lips Sink Ships
Mutiny on the Bounty
Enregistré Par Steve Albini
Most bands on Big Scary Monsters.
Stapleton - twinkly Scottish indie-emo, I heard Hug The Coast for the first time a few weeks ago and it's incredible
Pinback - intricate and mathy yet super-accessible indie rock
Braid - fun, energetic, awesome 90s emo
Mineral - (possibly) my favourite emo band ever, all those bands you listed owe a lot to this stuff. Amazing songs, slow-burning and intense.
any UK bands?
are UK bands. Influenced by american bands...
Hot Cross, Hot Cross, maybe a bit of Hot Cross oh and definitely Hot Cross.
know amongst insiders as DMB.
