Who is supporting?
I do believe its Local Natives..
Dead excited as I've wanted to go and see them for years
That sounds diabolical. Is that something they've been playing on their other dates?
not diabolical at all, i thought it was great
Maybe this will be different...
What else did they play - was it relatively spread out over their albums?
a few numbers from Hissing Fauna, and a couple from their latest
they played eluardian instance, heimdalsgate, a sentence of sorts, bunny ain't no kind, she's a rejector, daniel (bat for lashes cover), the party's crashing us...
i hope they do a 'greatest hits' set as i saw them in october and it was mostly Skeletal Lamping stuff, which is fine, but y'know :P
last summer they played hissing fauna practically in its entirety, and the second time they did pretty much all of skeletal lamping and bits of hissing fauna with wraith pinned the mist etc. Am I right in saying that they have two 'incarnations', with the earlier lo-fi stuff being considered pretty much as a seperate band?
I mean, yes. It will be aces.
tobythecat: you won't hear anything pre-Sunlandic Twins unless you're VERY lucky, thy only really play OMM3 stuff these days
and also explains the title of Requiem for OMM2...
what's the deal with the three different 'incarnations'?
thought some of the earlier stuff was him on his own as well though.
i'm only really an 'OMM3' fan anyhow - my favourites are Hissing Fauna, Sunlandic, Satainic Panic etc. just hope they play lots from those! :D
first time I'm seeing them, looking forward to it but hoping for a good mix as far as the setlist goes, since I'm not Skeletal Lamping's number 1 fan.
If they play anything from Skeletal Lamping I'm walking
I saw that on some recent setlists (Coachella)...
I thought The Past Is A Grotesque Animal was retired. I am glad I was wrong. Fucking weird version but I liked it. Other highs wd be Nonpareil Of Favor (the outro was amazing) and that cover of Daniel really is fucking great. The whole thing where their goons come on and start playing a set and the band chase them off was LOLz, too.
couldnt believe they did The Past is a grotesque animal :D
also generally: decent mix of 'old' and new, played lots of my favourites, had a good dance - all in all couldnt be happier!
got basically everything I really wanted to hear, loads of older stuff and most of the new stuff sounded a lot better live. Awesome spectacle as well, and there were times where everyone in the room must have had a massive grin on their face. So happy at getting to hear TPIAGA, it's probably one of my favourite songs ever.
Does anyone have a setlist? I'm not too good on some of the song titles.
Butt Bank, Nonpareil of Favor, Bunny Ain't No Kind of Rider, Id Engager, And I've Seen a Bloody Shadow, The Party's Crashing Us, Heimdalsgate Like a Promethean Curse, October is Eternal, A Sentence of Sorts in Kongsvinger, Beware our Nubile Miscreants, then there were two songs I didn't know (but my setlist says they were called 'Daniel' and 'Metal Finds Troll'), For Our Elegant Caste, Touched Something's Hollow, An Eluardian Instance, Rapture Rapes the Muses, Wraith Pinned to the Mist, She's a Rejecter. Encore: Past is a Grotesque Animal.
is there anything pre-Satanic Panic there? I don't think so. that's nice.
on Friday, I care little that it would take up about two thirds of their allocated slot.
Excellent gig last night marred by fuckawful sound. Worst I've heard at a proper venue probably ever.
Didn't expect The Past is a Grotesque Animal though, and that just about made up for it.
Not crystal clear by any means, but good enough for the songs to shine through. If you went back so you were underneath the balcony it was horrible though.
and I could barely hear Kevin's vocals. The sampled drum beats also sounded bad from where I was standing. Still they were ruddy ace, and I got a box as a souvenir (woo!)
First time I've seen them so I was overwhelmed with happiness just getting to hear some of my favourite songs and dance around a bit and enjoy the visuals and people dressed up as tigers in suits and what not. The Past Is A Grotesque Animal was stunning.
