So who's going?
never seen them before, really excited.
Stuff I'd especially like to hear: Tonight, DLZ, Blind, Province
Dirtywhirl is brilliant live. And Dreams if they play that is amazing. Same as Wash The Day.
You'll be lucky if they play Blind - I've only ever heard of them doing Satellite from early stuff...
i look forward to wolf like me and halfway home
hope they are good!
and was really disappointed. they pretty much played dear science through with wolf like me and staring at the sun in the middle. the overall sound was more 'rock band' than 'deeply layered beautiful textured lovely stuff' i was expecting.
hope it's better for you guys.
They're so noisy and uptempo live. Wonderful.
Im gonna be here
I'm currently bordering on the giddy.
looking to take that up a notch to joyous after lunch, then push for euphoric come the first song.
but no I'm not going..
It's a DiSism
so I wasn't sure if you were being clever or retarded. Still not 100% sure.
I had a cheap ticket which Phil said I should sell to you, but I sold it for face value to fund going to of Montreal tomorrow night.
I don't have any cash to spare either way. Hope it was fun/have fun at Of Montreal.
was anyone else a bit disappointed?
the sound was poor.
maybe i'm too casual a fan (only have last 2 albums), but the first half was decent, with the strongest songs from dear science, then wolf like me.
but then it seemed to descend into a beverly knight jazzworld horn arrangement-thon.
other people appeared to like it, as evidenced by their 'funky' dancing.
The sound was bad, which isn't good, especially for a band like them.
Glad I wasn't the only one disappointed - I thought it was just because I've had a recent run of excellent gigs, setting the bar high.
Seen them a couple of times before and they've been great but the sound was poor, and the reinterpretations of some of their best songs were ill advised... 'The Wrong Way' sounded almost like Less Than Jake and 'Satellite' somehow became an Arctic Monkeys B-Side. And not in a good way...
The friend I was with hadn't seen them before and had been really looking forward to seeing them but she was really disappointed too.
'Wolf Like Me' was still ace though.
It was absolutely fantastic!
thought they started a touch slowly, but once they got to Halfway Home and Wolf Like Me they were firing on all cylinders. Bit too much new album for my liking (all of it bar the best song, I think!) but they were effortlessly good and I actually thought the sound was above-par for Brixton. Great encore too.
OceanStorm. Those 2 were indeed when they hit their stride. I enjoyed Brixton, haven't been for ages and the slope and sound were both good.
where were you standing? i was just right of centre (looking at the stage), in front of nearest barrier to stage
in line with right speakers, similarly by the nearest barrier. strange. i thought the sound wasn't great to begin with but as i said after halfway home and wolf like me it really picked up. i'm no expert though...
its the third time i've seen them in the past ten months and its the first time i've heard ANYTHING that Kyp was singing!
