Ridiculously good fun. Album of the summer.
It pretty much sums up my feeling on what I heard on some indie show on radio one when I was in my car one night.
about the songs, it's pretty much all about how the album is made by white people but omg it's r&b so it must be ironic and aimed at "blog reading nerdy white kids." Which, ironically, is the kind of thing that tends to worry blog reading nerdy white kids.
It's admirable to worry about artistic authenticity, but I think you can tie yourself up in knots worrying about it, and begin to see irony or insincerity where there is none, and ultimately that impedes your enjoyment of an otherwise fun album.
Whatever, it's a fun summer album.
I usualy agree with FACT as well but I cant see it myself here and I really enjoyed T-Pains last album and was listening to Bitte Orca loads today. This just sounded embarasing to me.
Personally, I'm with the happy-go-luky funsters over at AV club http://www.avclub.com/articles/discovery,30018/
and not the pretentious, indier-than-thou's at cmg http://www.cokemachineglow.com/record_review/4610/discovery-lp-2009
Having said that, I've only listened a few times, and I could see it getting old quickly. We'll see.
no it's not.
the comment about worrying about artistic authenticity though, I don't think i've heard enough of the album to really make a decent judgement regarding the record. What I've heard so far has been pleasant enough though.
The rest gav me a headache
The rest is eh... However So Insane is bitchin.
I'm on the 'really enjoyed' it side of the fence. Just solid melodies, hooks and fun. Just how i like it
downloaded it, listened once, deleted it.
is a fucking tune!
I want to like it but the vocals are a bit wimpy, aren't they?
