favourite blur moments

seeing as it's blur-mania right now, and i'm going to be at Hyde Park on Friday, I thought i'd kick off a thread about personal favourite moments in songs/albums/general. I'm most interested in the more obscure moments but anything goes. Favourite moments for me include (in no particular order):

1) The guitar solo in London Loves - deliciously atonal no?
2) The vocal harmonies on "Pressure on Julian" especially on 2nd time round of 'only the magical transit children sing sing a lullaby BAH BAH BAH'
3) "Clover Over Dover" - the weaving of the harpsicord and guitar around a deceptively funky bassline.
4) "Sweet Song" - possibly the most subtle and genuinely moving song in their collection. And its about Graham.
5) Seeing them at Rock City the day that Beetlebum got to number 1.

That'll do for a start, I have about 150 more but I'd like to hear yours.

    - The bit in This Is A Low when the three solos converge on the same note
    - The bit in Beetlebum before the second chorus where the guitar goes ch-chk
    - The bit in Essex Dogs where he sings 'my heart stops...and then it starts' and the instruments come back in
    - The guitar solo on Trouble In The Message Centre
    - The downbeat chorus of He Thought Of Cars

I'll probably be back with more.

  • The chorus of 'Battle' - the equivalent of a very quick glimpse at sunlight through the pitch black clouds of an otherwise disgustingly overcast day.
That twin descending guitar line after the chorus of 'Best Days'.
The first "You know it's to be with you" in 'Blue Jeans'.
The last minute of 'The Universal'
'Badhead'. 'She's So High'. 'You're So Great'. Those three songs in full.

  • -badhead guitar solo
-the 'we don't think so, you seem starshaped' lines of starshaped
    -death of a party intro
-this is a low guitar solo
-the bass intro to colin zeal
    -bone bag chorus

  • In fairness

most of my highlights are guitar related -

The intros to Starshaped, Beetlebum, It Could Be You, Death of a Party, M.O.R., On Your Own, There's No Other Way, Villa Rosie, He Thought of Cars, Chemical Word (even Magic America) are all fantastic.

The solos to almost all blur songs are fantastic but special note for This is a Low, For Tomorrow, Colin Zeal, Coffee & TV (outro), Bank Holiday, There's No Other Way, Badhead, Beetlebum, M.O.R., Music is my Radar etc etc etc

He's my favourite all rounder guitarist and no mistake!

  • seeing them play in newcastle on thursday night

tender and the universal in particular
