I have Challenger and I love it but where do I go next?
He seems to have like a billion releases.
both are pretty nifty.
There are two releases where the track titles are spot on and describe the music really well, they are Blood Lightning 2007 and Operator Dead: Post Abandoned.
Blood Lightning is flat out brilliant all the way through and has the different styles he does in one epic album, the violin drones, the synths, the voice, the noise and the group improv type stuff.
Operator Dead Post Abandoned drags a bit for me towards the end but the first half is spectacularly good! That's all full band stuff recorded in a proper studio.
There's also 'The Very Heart Of The World' which literally starts with a car crash and has a disgusting vocal track with retching type sounds and again the blokes from Hair Police helping out with some full band stuff. Again mint. The atmospheres he conjures up are second to none!
Aaaaand I also have the "Mes Soldats Stupides" comp (which is gradually being reissued on 10" vinyl by no-fi - there are a couple out already) which is probably the noisiest BxC I have overall but it's a bit more patchy. Some GREAT solo synth bits which are definitely some of my favourites.
Challenger is great but all of the above feature longer tracks to get lost in. So they are sort of different but don't jump around quite as much as that album. High quality music anyway, he can do no wrong as far as I can tell!
Imagine a really dark sci-fi film where an ancient space station was in a decaying orbit around a dying sun and as it got closer and closer the increasing gravity caused the metal to warp and fracture whilst wailing alarms sounded automatically even though there was no-one aboard remaining to hear them. 'Operator Dead: Post Abandoned' sounds like that.
