they got back together, and i don't wanna sound ungrateful...but i think it's a bit too singles heavy. i was looking forward to a few b-sides and album tracks like battle, coping etc. mind you i can't wait to see essex dogs!
But from a guy who's never seen them before, I get Essex Dogs, Trimm Trabb, Tracy Jacks, Battery in your leg...
Awesome. And a fair few decent singles. barring Music is my radar. Which is a GLARING oversight.
Aw man Sunday night pyramid stage can't come soon enough.
Has a fucking good night.
and can confirm it was amazing! The set was nigh on perfect and there were a few surprisingly enjoyable numbers, country house and tender being potential gig highlights.
in manchester ariound 95/96? and they were great! i saw them again in 1999? at reading festival and they werre awful! they came on and played tender for about 15 minutes too long and i hate that song! the ywere still ok , just not great
Seems well thought out, like a natural progression from song to song, looking forward to the 3rd at hyde park
southend was incredible. i died during beetlebum, in a good way
Anyone know who's supporting at Newcastle?
magistrates supported, I thought they were very very good
seeing Tracy Jacks on the set list has got me excited even more
But whatever they play for a few hours I'd still be complaining as their discography is just so deep. But yeah, pretty much sums up why I love them. Can't wait for Hyde Park.
Blue Jeans instead of Tender
Even after everyone realised his 'likely lad' shit was a total act and it turned out he was in fact very, very posh.
Blur have a huge identity crisis. "What are we? A fun sing-along Britpop band who sing 'Girls and Boys' or are we an American grunge band who jump around to skateboarder music like 'Song 2'?"
they're a band playing whatever the hell they want from their varied back catalogue.
the whole "britpop" thing was really only a short period in their history, two/three years at most. they just happened to put out three incredibly visible albums in that time.
the switch to the later art rock sound was a reaction to knowing that their previous sound had been played out, much like the switch to playing Kinks-y stuff in the first place was after the s/t album.
they've been banging on about. How does it sound? Radically different? Bongos? Please tell me there aren't any bongos...
Fuck you DiS.
Ooo David Bowie, what are you? Ziggy Stardust or The Thin White Duke or just yourself?
It's pop music, get over it.
'Blur', which is a good thing in my book. Very heavy on 'Modern Life Is Rubbish', which I've got mixed feelings about. Still, it is a good list isn't it?
I Would have loved a bit more of the underappreciated stuff from the Great Escape like He Thought Of Cars and Best Days. It Could Be You?, maybe. Still great though.
For the first time properly this year. I don't mind it, but Damon's vocals on it put me off of it Hopefully live I'll change my mind about it.
I wish it was far more 'Blur / 13' heavy, but as a setlist I'm largely made up...
...except 'Girls and Boys' - that can fuck off!
Damn! I wish I was going to one of these!
please. Please, please, please! Pretty please.
They can get up there and do Oasis covers for all I care. I gotsta see Blur this time round!
but some guy would probably scream "play wonderwall" over and over and they would never come back
