People who are good at guitar
How much practice do you think you need to become good at guitar?
Like a pretty decent impressive level where people would be like 'Yeah, they're good aren't they, good at guitar'.

play everyday for the rest of your life
or whenever youre listening to music, or a whole album, play along with guitar? thats how i learned
Define good
Composition, Transcription, Speed? Depends who you're trying to impress. Don't worry about how good you are in other people's eyes, just work towards you're own goals and enjoy it.
I've been playing, self taught, for 4 years, and I could impress most of my friends with some tricky/speedy riffs, but not much more than i could after 2 years of solid practicing. However, my improvisation, aural skills and composition are far better
well, it's a pretty bullshit expression
you could learn to play about 4 songs (like me), absolutely nail them into the ground, and then when a casual observer sees you play one of them they think "wow, this guy is pretty damn good" (like me). Doesn't actually make you good though
10000 hours of practice
is the usually cited figure, e.g. http://www.infoniac.com/science/it-takes-10,000-hours-of-practice-to-become-a-genius.html
it takes about 30 mins to learn a powerchord
then about 20 mins to learn to slide it up and down the neck to create different chords. giving you 10 mins to have a snack and a sit down.
Congratulations - you are good at the guitar and it only took an hour.
^ Sunn o)) fan
rumbled by the 'bag
Tune to drop D
you could halve that time, but still probably only impress green day fans
learn to play a different instrument
ex. sax
then make a guitar sound like that. then you will be good
