recommend me some afrobeat
Greetings all. I have just discovered the genius of Fela Kuti (King of Afrobeat anthology). Perfect music for walking to work in balmy June! Where next?

it's not 'afrobeat'
but I discovered a guy called John Chibadura recently who makes fantastic Zimbabwean guitar music. Obviously a massive infuence on graceland, vampire weekend etc.. shouldn't be too difficult to track down in the UK either.
this place is fantastic: http://awesometapesfromafrica.blogspot.com/
Yahhh...Fela Kuti is great.
I dont have too much afrobeat, just a grip of Fela and a couple albums by Antibalas (Security is great). As far as Fela goes, make sure you have Zombie, and Confusion/Gentlemen.
thanks for the recommendations people!
and therapy that is a great link!
seun kuti is wicked,
as are konono no 1, not sure if they're classed as afrobeat though.
Roforo Fight by Fela Kuti
is my favourite afrobeat record.
I saw Tony Allen play a couple of weeks ago and it was fantastic.
Expensive Shit is my favourite Fela album

Though not technically Afrobeat try King Sunny Ade, Mulatu Astatke, Manu Dibango. Any of the Ethiopiques series is a good bet: http://www.myspace.com/ethiopiandream Theres a band called Nomu who are doing some great Afrobeat inspired stuff as well: http://www.myspace.com/nomomusic
