this song is RIDICULOUS. fantastic too.
His voice on that track is something else.
and one I first heard, oddly, when the intro was used as the theme to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Week_Ending
and thought to myself, 'they need some Associates on this if its 1982' and within 2 minutes there they were. That was Club Country though wasn't it? 'Those First Impressions' is still my fave, makes me go funny every single time. Great voice, shame he's dead.
I loved the use of 'All Cats are Grey' in one of the earlier episodes.
The Associates are awesome. Can I put a vote in for 'White Car in Germany'?
can make me bawl if I'm in the mood. I got a bit teary listening to Wild & Lonely the other day as well. The Peel session version of A Matter of Gender on the other hand is just gobsmackingly brilliant.
and the Divine Comedy's version is pretty good too! (http://open.spotify.com/track/3NrI1uv24BWY3W2B5tbPcJ)
I actually think I prefer the instrumentation on that, although the voice clearly isn't as good
but I cried the first time I heard that record.
