I guess i cant see it cos im a bit too close.
young ears, pah!
the problem is that its by FAR their best song
Nothing else they have is anywhere that damn good.
But then again Im a sucker for analogue synths (and their players)
Is it that you like DEYT because it is say more sophiosticated than Discotraxx which is much rougher?
Is it the style you guys dont like?
I mean like do you like mgmt? or say miss kitten or zoot woman.?
DEYT is a massive beast of a song, I listened to a couple of their albums and nothing really grabbed me.
I don't mind the style, I like danceable songs and lots of analog synths.
Frankly the suggestion that DEYT is "by far" Ladytron's best song is an exaggeration. "The Witching Hour' itself is a avery impressive album and DEYT just happens to be the big single off that - the most accessible. Got a lot of time for Ladytron, me.
New Order's 'True Faith'.
Which is no bad thing at all.
and a kind of "wall-of-sound" style, I guess the call isn't a million miles off. It's a bit of stretch, even so.
As for DEYT being by far Ladytron's best song, I have to agree. I got plenty of time for Ladytron, and I reckon Witching Hour is easily one of the best albums of '05. But as good as all the material from that album is, DEYT towers above the rest. It is such a monster of a song!
and Witching Hour is the best album. But I reckon there's a few songs of theirs that are better than DEYT - Playgirl, Soft Power, Seventeen to name but three. Can't see the Cocteau Twins link but maybe your lad still has his hearing intact rather than having had it blasted by music for forty years plus.
