It was coming for a while but it's finally been announced:
Friday Reading, Sunday Leeds.
I can't wait! It's gonna be sooooooooo cool.
Awesome, does mean that tent is gonna be sooooo packed, i wager at least one fatality.
a stupid idea. Well done organisers. Did you see how busy it was at Download for their set?
1) Up against Kings of Leon who will pull the biggest crowd.
2) That was Download, they were headlining, it was a big occasion; this is less so.
3) NME Tent has apparently been made larger this year, between 10-12k capacity.
4) The original line-up was fairly devoid of many harder rock/metal bands that are a regular occurrence at the festival, so they might have been disinclined to buy tickets - that will inherently reduce the crush for the NME tent.
Of course if we do a bit of rearranging (most spurious, i.e. shifting headliners around on the top two stages, but bear with me) then the Sunday could look like this:
Faith No More
Funeral For A Friend
New Found Glory
The Living End
Which would have been a perfectly acceptable 'rock' day as expected. But because a lot of the heavier bands have been spread around various stages (the aforementioned, plus: AFI, Brand New, The Blackout, The Bronx, Gallows, Atreyu etc) and announced in waves it will have suppressed the kind of madness for FNM in a tent that would have occurred otherwise.
so Leeds now has the rockier day on the Sunday, and Reading with it on the Friday. in fairness, the friday line up isn't much less rocky than last years Sunday, especially with FNM headlining, even if it is in the Radio1 Tent
