God they seem to take some stick...
be seen as being quite divisive and generally they seem to be tracing a fairly interesting path between the melodic and the experimental which I guess could throw a lot of people off. It's weird that people seem to have a go at them when they get more melodic and refined ('Surgery') but accuse them for going off on the deep end when they experiment a little more.
Personally though I really like them.
no, certainly not.
... I got the Mirror Explodes to review a while back and it's ended up being one of my favourite albums of the year so far. Liked it so much I ordered it on vinyl. Really dark and trippy but absolutely glorious nonetheless. It's a big step forward from Heavy Deavy in terms of production and it really does suck you in the more you listen to it.
Standing Between the Lovers of Hell is their finest moment in my opinion. Towards the end his vox take on an otherworldy, almost eastern feel that is just devastating. And when the bass kicks in halfway through - I'm getting shivers just thinking about it!
You may be able to tell I really like this record.
That Pitchfork review was condescending bullshit btw. You have to be depressed and mashed on drugs to enjoy this blah blah blah. Fuck off you idiots.
Decent album in my opinion.
Where do they get stick? Who are these fools? One of the best live bands you'll ever see...
...don't know much else of theirs but "shake the dope out" is a classic!
1.7!!!! REALLY? Look, granted I like the album but whether you do or don't there is absolutely no way it deserves a rating that unfathomably low. That would make it a far poorer album than 'Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends' as far as I can see and that just can't be a sensible conclusion in a sane world. In fact it's about as suspect as the recent the recent Iranian Presidential results.
Warlocks could join The Kings of Leon as another victim of Pitchfork's prejudices (and I mean pre-'Only By The Night').
Have always been particularly harsh on them...
this band a lot. phoenix is great, i think ill order the new one now...
i cant wait to get the new album. pitchfork makes me sad, they hate all the music i like
