'there are no scrobbles on your iPod'
There bloody well should be; it hasn't scrobbled for days. At this rate, all it'll ever take note of are random Spotify playlists.
Anyone know how I can get around this absolute arse of a problem? Admittedly iTunes is an absolute arse of a program, but this arbitary shit takes the biscuit and wanks onto it.

did you upload a new version of itunes lately? that can fuck around with the scrobbler sometimes
I did
But I only reinstalled last.fm afterwards.
hmmmm. do you have all your music backed up on an external hard drive? i do, and i find it only scrobbles tracks if the external is plugged in at the same time..
no...
interesting, though. Ta.
It all just feels to amateurish.
*so
It is.
Absolute shit. Totally random and unpredictable. Most of the time it doesn't work, sometimes it does. Sometimes it drags up a random list of tracks I played six months ago. Sometimes it comes up with a list of scrobbles which were from itunes and not from the ipod at all.
Mine only scrobbles about 3 or 4 tracks after I connect my ipod
regardless of however many thousands of tracks I play.
My response to this has been to give up on the last.fm threads, it hasn't affected my life in any other ways.

Scrobble iPod
That usually works for me, might be a different problem though.
this is marvellous, thanks
It didn't work, but it will prove useful in future, I daresay.
Needs another sync?
I quite often find that songs I add don't start being scrobbled until the iPod has been synched with iTunes twice - once to put the tracks on and once more. After that it should work fine unless iTunes can't access the file on a drive at the same time (you'll see an exclamation mark next to the track in your library) or if iTunes fucks up the date on your pod...which it does to me quite often.
I don't sync my iPod
Never have, and yet it used to work.
Thanks all.
Has it updated your iTunes plays?
If so, might be worth opening last.fm app, and file, exiting it, then trying to open it again. That works for me when it says no scrobbles (Best I can suggest, sorry!)
I had to include the directory where the lastfm client is installed
in the directory list of where it should look for scrobbles to get it working. It is still a bit temperamental. I always make sure I have iTunes open before plugging my iPhone in.
iSproggler
for all your scrobbling needs!

not sure if it works with the very latest iTunes update but it works perfectly otherwise. Read all the instructions in the group carefully
i find that:
> if you have any tracks/files that are broken (with the grey/black excalamation mark) in your synched playlist, it will not work
> if you fix this, it will work
> sometimes it does take a couple of synchs to get it going though
>sometimes none of this helps. :(
after weeks of no scrobbles
it just kicked in and backdated everything off my i-pod to the 8th June. took a while but it got there in the end.
