The Javelin Run?
then 'Party Monster'
Great movie with fantastic music
24 Hour Party People
Grosse Point Blank
All great soundtracks
the good the bad the ugly
Carlitos way is pretty good too for a bit of 80s cheesy dance music, fits the film really well
not 80s duh
Lost in Translation
Somebody had to put it.
the gladiator one's good too, and jurassic park
Requiem for a Dream's soundtrack is fantastic. Can't believe he used to be in Pop Will Eat Itself...
Assault on Precinct 13 (John Carpenter original)
The Harder They Come
Saturday Night Fever
In fact, most Wes Anderson films have exquisite soundtracks. See also Darjeeling Limited.
Pretty much all John Williams stuff is incredible.
By Tindersticks. Never seen the film like.
No-one happens to have a vinyl copy of this they're willing to sell perchance? Rocking horse shit.
Ehh I'm a massive Hans Zimmer groupie and I can't decide on an orchestral score.
Non-orchestral would probably have to be "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist"
'Thumbsucker' soundtrack. Only one I listen to really.
It's Tim DeLaughter from the Polyphonic Spree and a few tracks by Elliott Smith.
check it out!
I don't particularly like all the songs used but it's the fact they work so well.
If I were to choose a film based on how much I like the music then maybe Control or Trainspotting or Amelie.
once upon time in the west
last of the mohicans
titanic (YES TITANIC)
loads. i love soundtracks.
Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas
The Fifth Element
i don't know how relevent these are as they're films about specific musicians and their music but The Doors/I'm Not There/Amadeus all have great soundtracks. Wes Anderson films always have great soundtracks..the Me & Julio Down By The Schoolyard scene in T.R.Tenembaums being a favourite scene.
it was maybe the first time I really took notice of a film's soundtrack also
There Will Be Blood
Ocean's 11 and 12(the films were rather meh, particularly 12, but the soundtrack was brilliant)
Sweeney Todd(although does it count as a soundtrack? being a musical and all...)
and seconding Amelie
With basically all of these they are all fantastic! Probably the ones I listen to the most!
There Will Be Blood
Amelie wins mind...
beta band, stereolab, stevie wonder, love, 13th floor elevators, marvin gaye, velvet underground, elvis costello.............
as with many others on here, high fidelity, garden state, etc.
Just saw The Wackness with Ben Kingsley in it (as a weird stoner shrink) and the soundtrack captured the time ('93) perfectly.
hip hop 93
Friday Night Lights
The Shawshank Redemption,
Dead Mans Shoes (obvs not original but still)
On a less blaxploitationy theme I loved the music in American Beauty.
I'm listening to The End, prompted by this thread.
the there will be blood soundtrack really is not that great... if yon man from famous bands wusn't involved there'd be no attention paid to it. dissonant snore orchetral snore.
