and 5 more bands coming next week
are Le Volume Courbe the ones who supported mbv at the roundhouse?
some nice additions.
is they're gonna make the buzzcocks set look very tame in terms of punk music by comparison. But they could get alot of loving/mass sing-a-long during ever fallen in love so it's all good.
I do love abit of the old buzzcocks, hopefully they'll stick to pretty much all the singles going steady stuff, rather than the last 2 albums material.
It might help if you view Buzzcocks as a power pop band. And Fucked Up as more of a hardcore band (are they even that anymore? I have no idea)
nothing like "oh my god i can't beleive they are playing!!" but want to see them all!Good to see fucked up added for something a bit more meaty and aggresive too. A good mix! Plus another 5 next week!! woop!!
!!! aren;t playing.. well not in that announcment, dunno where this had come from?
!!! havent been confirmed. man above is confused.
was expecting this to be more exciting tbh, but good stuff nevertheless. i am hopeful.
with Buzzcocks being announced adds some weight to the "buzzcocks, The Fall, Public Enemy" rumour... maybe the other 2 will be announced next week.
but now you found out that it's a habit that sticks...
good work there
I really want to go to this. Two problems
2) Finding 3 other people I know that do
i really, really want to go to this fuckinggggg aaattpppp aarrgghhh but my friends all SUCK.. I can get one in for def, one who'll agree when hes drunk but probably wont come through then i still need at least one more anyway? :(
Something always does.
I don't think I'm going to be able to afford to go :(
or admin a chalet before it sells out
A different band/artist to Wounded Knee, interesting sound-collagist-type-fellow who was on a Wire CD recently? That shit on myspace sure does sound different.
the wounded knees = http://www.myspace.com/wknees
Deerhunter and Trail of Dead could be added to the bill
come on Shields, ask em!
would be great. Also, get Mogwai.
the line up so far is very mix-match and different genres which is a great thing. Im purely paying for the experience and the nostalga as I always get walking into an ATP event. What ever bands play is a total bonus! Really looking forward to EPMD and Sun Ra... I just hope MBV get to play sonically loud and play the MAIN big stage as that center stage gets smelly and sweaty!
as there's no way on earth they could play in the pavilion due to volume.
we're gonna try to get the hotdog stand moved out of centre stage if possible ;-)
yeah, I know that due to volume. my god jamie, it will be loud! Yeah remove that hotdog stand! its not fair on us hippy vege's!
it was in front of the centre stage arena. smelt a lot lot lot better. killing joke w/ the hotdog stand would have been murder. or MADNESS.
is it going to be a 3 show/3 wristband deal then? will we have to evacuate before they play? i might just hide in the toilets for half an hour.
Centre Stage has miles better sound than the Pavilion. Every band with loud parts i have seen on the Pavilion stage has basically turned to a muddy dirge. Good decision to put MBV on the Centre stage i think.
MBV will probably be even louder than Om at the Portishead one. The only two bands I would wear earplugs for :-)
3/5 of these bands were known about, and buzzcocks has been heavily rumoured.
great news on Fucked Up however
Bullet for My Valentine or My Chemical Romance would be added - just so I have to stop trying to explain that neither will be there to friends/my Mum. No Mum, MBV aren't 'the one them EMO's like?'
I just put Soon on rather than explain they're thinking of different bands, as most people recognise that as not being very emo like :)
would like to see Fucked Up live I must admit, and Buzzcocks would be ace too.
Still, it's not Public Enemy and I'm not screaming to the rafters asking why I can't afford it yet.
that as considerate curators MBV should book some noise bands that are in thrall to them especially Sunn O)))and Nadja.
Also the The Fall but this is merely because they are the best band in the world, ever!
I get the Nadja thing but what are you suggesting that Sunn O))) are influenced by MBV? I can see some of the connections people make with MBV's music and more abstract artists like Fennesz but I think people read stuff into Loveless that isn't there at all. I am prepared to stand corrected.
I would be happy to watch them at ATP mind you although I think this NBC is going to be more aimed at a typical ATP audience and less abstract than previous ones unfortunately. I think they did the NBC thing at the Vs. the Fans one this year.
you are probably right about sunn o))). i think perhaps i am lumping together cos they fulfill the same drone/volume cranial requirements for me. especially the voulme bit :-)
So I'm looking forward to this legendary noise assault, with the help of my trusty earplugs of course.
The holocaust bit of "you made me realise" is impossible without earplugs. Will be fantastic on Centre Stage!
some great additions coming up near the end of the week.
