Did anyone make it to this? Quite but amazing show.
Simon Scott - First support came in the form of a highly experimental ambient drone artist that reminded me of some of the work on the now defunct Fukkgodletscreate label. Simon Scott used granular looping and guitar to provide climatic infinitely complex textures of sound which drag you under into a trance like state if you a willing Manchurian candidate. You could see that it didn't go down perfectly well as most of the people in the room were here to see Kontakte. Still Simon held it together and played some of the most ballsy experimental music I've seen in played out Hoxton. Massive props to him.
Kontakte - Kontakte added the life to a evening of ambience. It was apparent that their sound was going to be heavy as soon as the lead guitarist walked on stage where what one could call a vintage ISIS tshirt and angry look on his face. Kontakte soon built from silence to crescendo of noise and layered guitar sounding like explosions in the sky having a wild sex romp while listening to isis’s oceanic after kidnapping cevin key and taping him to sisters of mercy’s drum machine in his hands. Shamefully as interesting as this sounds they didn't quite hit what they were heading towards just falling short of the idea. I’m left feeling I wish I’d seen this band in a years time when they have found a drummer and perfected their sound.
Library tapes - The stage is left empty from Kontakte massive sound, when the guy sitting next to me in a "kaos split" tshirt stands up and walks to the stage. I'd been sitting next one of my idols most of the evening ( I'd be coveting his friends sunn tshirt all night ). Such is things in this kind of scene, I find. Library tapes steal the show holding the undivided attention of the (small)crowd. Who like me seem to be awe. Taking in the minimalist reverberation of every note to the back ground of low level brown noise and loops played out of tiny speakers. Time seemed to not exist while he is playing. Shamefully Library Tapes finishes and leaving me feeling that he'd finished before he'd even started. I walk from the venue with pensive smile on my face, a floaty like grace in my step that only the beauty of such a genius can provide.
