Gold Panda

thoughts? i saw this guy tonight and was really taken aback. kinda like four tet, the field, errors. really interesting song progressions, and genuinely interesting to watch. in fact, i'd say he is what i had always imagined four tet would be like live before i saw him three times and was utterly underwhelmed, three times.

  • haven't seen him live yet - the manchester date was his first gig - but on record (well mp3) he's grrreat.

can't wait for the 12" http://www.cargorecords.co.uk/release/8506 and to see him at the huw stephens launch.

from chelmsford too which is nice.

  • Not really impressed. Massive Four Tet and The Field influences. Dont really rate the Field, but Four Tet is a very talented man imo.

  • sounds like banjo or freakout with no feelings

  • More Gold Panda...

    after the Various 12", he's doing a 7" with Make Mine - 2 tracks.

If you're a doubter have a listen to the tracks on the Various 12 when it comes out. They're really, really, really good. Especially check out Mayuri.

there's a free London show at the Social, Great Portland Street on Tuesday, 9th June too - the launch party for Huw Stephen's compilation. www.musicsoundsbetterwithhuw.com if you're interested.

  • yeah, mayuri

is the bestest. confused about the banjo or freakout comparision?! but yes there's a likeness to four tet, also for me boards of canada, aphex, wauvenfold and minotaur shock but there's nothing wrong with that. some of my favourite acts rolled into one.
