The Wounded Knees have confirmed on their myspace. Dunno if The Fall, Buzzcocks and Public Enemy rumours are true but think it was said we should get an announcment beginning of next week.
though i'd love to see them again
well Bob Weston said they would be back in December so who knows?
that's super duper news!
new bands please..
have got to play, surely?
but dinosaur jr may have overdone it recently so maybe witch'll play (or more unlikelyly i'd like the j mascis and the fog line up of circa 2001)
They've got a new album out soon so could be a possibility. Folk will moan about the predictability but I could watch them every day 'til I die.
ha ha, fuck dem haterz.
that'd be sweet
Sonic Youth link as well, J being mates of Thurston and Kim. Plus there will be the new album to push as well as already mentioned.
I'm 90% confident they'll be announced soon.
though mbv/sy combo beats it all
had support from the bad (amazing) elvis impersonator who busks on the northern line, decisions like that don't bode well but then again the new york mbv line up looked pretty great.
I was thinking the otherday about that fantasy atp currator thread, and I was wondering have atp ever currated one just by themselves, I vaguely remember after that belle and sebastian weekender they, foundation or whatever they were back then, organised the first atp for that same year but it was cancelled due to poor sales and then revamped with the mogwai currate the following year and the currating thing has been ever since, I think it would be kind of good if they let go of that restriction once in a while and just booked all bands they like
they like sticking to formats that work. Next year they could do something like that for the 10th year or something. And that's assuming that some of the picks aren't done by ATP to fill out the lists abit. Plus they have done half bills before with the VS fans & pitchfork ones.
Did someone say that Mogwai were pissed off that Field Day had claimed that FD was going to be their only UK show this year?
im sure and i hope moggers will play in Dec. As a christmas treat.
What could they know? WHAT COULD THEY KNOW?
I know the last two albums were rubbish, but they have 3 fantastic albums (exterminator, vanishing point, screamdelica) and usually put on a great live show. The Kevin Shields connection makes me hopeful, so probably Dinosaur Jr. as well. Other than that, I hope they have a varied lineup, not just rock bands, more rap and electronica.
As long as you like it OLD SKOOL.
.. and new skool, as long as it's quality, and de la soul and epmd are both great. It would be cool to have some underground rap such as aesop rock or el-p or pharoahe monch, anyone like that. Or maybe some of the wu-tang crew again. I'd also love to see a proper house/techno dj, like the time they had ellen allien.
Dunno if it would ever happen though, I don't know much about his habits as a live performer.
can't get a visa. Has some stuff on his criminal record or something.
That's really annoying, would really like to have seen him.
see this ATP being the one to get some decent house/techno; I'd be surprised if Shields picks more than about 5 bands who didn't peak over 10-15 years ago. The lack of decent electronic music is one of my biggest bugbears with ATP line-ups; there's so much good stuff around that's ignored in place of nostalgic choices.
It seems like a missed opportunity when they don't get in any decent electronic stuff - I think the reception at ATP for people like Flying Lotus, Shackleton or Clark would be fantastic, especially judging by peoples' reaction to Aphex at the Portishead one.
I reckon ATP nearly got their fingers burned with the Autechre one, which only just sold out at the last minute. People on DiS tend to be quite open-minded. I love all that stuff but I don't think this site necessarily reflects the average ATP-goer.
there is Bloc but it's a bit too far in the other direction - I'd just like some repetitive beats amongst the standard indie and metal fare. I loved Various Productions DJ set at the Pitchfork event, but what you say does ring true as there wasn't a huge amount of people there (more people turned up for the rock'n'roll dj afterwards). ATP put Thomas Brinkmann on at last year's Primavera who's exactly the kind of act I was thinking of, I guess I just have a different ideal in my head of what ATP should be rather than actually what it is.
..having more variety would make things much more interesting. They have had the like of aphex twin in the past but rap and electronica tend to have token representations at most ATPs. It would be nice to have decent dj's in the crazy horse for a change, not some guy playing random tunes, you might as well just put someones ipod on shuffle. It doesn't even have to be purely house/techno dj's, but someone like optimo would be ace.
I would love to see Optimo DJ, even in the late night slot on centre stage. There are a few DJs i think would go down really well at ATP, maybe Cherrystones or Girl Talk as well.
and the Jesus And Mary Chain with Scarlett Johannson
and Scarlet doing her tom waits covers with Sitek. YES PLZ!
Jesus and Mary Chain
and the cocteau twins
the tickets or onsale on gigantic and wegottickets. What would help sales would be another line up update..
coming very soon but some of us aren't back from primavera yet so may take another day or two to finalise ;-)
yes tickets now on WGT:
and still some on See:
but all places going fast.
I thought all 7 berth self catering had sold out so we bought 2 four berths on See even though there are only 7 of us.
Pissed right off.
if there arent any before i see you at shugo tokumaru (im sure i will?) yr in for a clubbing
day i get back from paris
announce some new stuff already!
but we are all very musch looking forward to it and so want some more news...
suggested there would be some announcements this week.
I want to have a lineup to complain about rather than complain about a lack of lineup. SAFETYWINK.
i heard kevin shields is well good mates with linkin park.
...as charming as they are.
