I am listening to Belle & Sebastian for the first time

Citra [Edit] [Delete] 10 replies 20:19, 28 May '09

I feel extremely stupid for not doing so sooner.
I listened to Tigermilk, loved it, moved onto Sinister and its sounding even better (only on first listen).
Do I continue through the catalogue or stick to these two for now, then adventure later on in the week.

Anything in a similar vein that I have probably missed? I'm not particulary well versed in much music before 2000, I suck.

  • You could try next

Push Barman To Open Old Wounds, the 2 CD compilation of non-album singles they did from 1996-2001, it's fantastic.

  • Ah sweet

So its pretty much all worth listening to. I'll probably just work through chronologically. Push Barman isn't on spotify, it'll have to wait, shame. Cheers guys

  • Whenever I read the name of this band

it signifies Simon and Garfunkel for me. AND I CANNOT HELP IT. It is as if Belle & Sebastian ACTUALLY ARE S&G. It's beginning to get very frustrating.

Doctor, doctor - any thoughts on a cure? Help!

  • Even though you've already got your answer

If You're Feeling Sinister (Live at the Barbican) > If You're Feeling Sinister (Studio) > Tigermilk > Dear Catastrophe Waitress > Boy with the Arab Strap > Fold Your Hands Child=Life Pursuit

And Push Barman is a great start

  • You want:

    Tigermilk
    If You're Feeling Sinister
The Boy With The Arab Strap
Push Bartender To Open Old Wound

All of them are utterly perfect. I love Belle & Sebastian.
