Oh, and I love it.
we got out copy of it really late - they were holding it back from online to prevent leaks (apparently print journos don't have the internetz!)
Sony however, aren't.
to keep you occupied 'til one crops up on here...
i'd like to know what you think.
but I've only finished the first couple of chapters so I haven't fully formed my opinion yet :P
I have read it already. I think I've read every review out there and DiS is the only one that hasn't written anything yet. The only score lower than 4/5 or 7/10 is 2/5 by The Daily Mirror.
I'm surprised by all the sudden love for them to be honest. The album's not really a huge departure from the stuff they've been doing for 4-5 years now. I think the lyrics have just given them back their edge. Nicky Wire must feel rotten.
anemic (NPI) joyless over-produced chug-a-thon. The new songs that I heard on Jools Holland were many a long mile away from the turgid bilge they've been pumping out in the last few years (and I'm talking musically rather than lyrically here)
The opening track to 'Lifeblood' is enough to justify the existence of the three piece Manics alone.
'1985' is among their best. In fact, as much as I love JFPL, there isn't anything on it to quite match that song.
giving artists like the Manics and Jarvis just enough of a kick up the arse to get themselves noticed again?
i think it's still on the website - i'd check but for some reason the guardian site crashes IE at univesity
Just listening to the second disc manics. James even put the singing vitriol in on the rough demos. Kudos!
Im very much a fan of their proper come back. Ive been disappointed ever album since 'This Is mt truth..' and it's a nice suprise to hear an album as fantastic as this.
There's a free download on the NME blog of MSP covering an unreleased Horrors track and it's awesome. I'm not a Horrors fan, but this really is good.
on the deluxe edition!! This pisses me off, its still great though : )
I love that they got Mark Owen in on the final track.
A fitting tribute to the dead and the living
It has a crap cover - similar to Spinal Tap's black cover, but not black. Is this some kind of stupid art statement?
it has what appears to be blood on it. The horror!
