Went off them.
Kinda love them again.
Is it old age?
I agree with every word.
i agree with the review, too. it's nice to see a semi "return to form" from the manics. i don't know if i'll ever love them again as much as i did as a feather boa and plastic tiara wearing 13-year-old, but i am really enjoying this album -- even the track that nicky sings!
I would round down to 7/10 but it's a minor quibble. Tis a good record. Funny how Manics are a completely British sensation when they have such American aesthetics to their sound...
Kinda like them again.
(I was already old when MSP started.)
So shut up !
PS : I'm joking Mike.
And I never got the Manics. Probably always too old myself...
Then didn't mind them
Then totally loved them
Then got a bit bored of them
Now I remember why I loved them again
Can't wait to hear this album, I've not read a single negative review of it and for the first time in ages I'm really excited about the new album.
Nice review Mike. I made the mistake of buying the NME yesterday to read their review and it was utter tosh, they spent at least three quarters of it describing The Holy Bible just to conclude that JFPL wasn't THB pt.2, any insight was completely forgone in favour of needless mythmaking. It's nice to read one that actually talks about the album instead of just the hype.
It's great to have them back and you're right when you say it's their best since Everything Must Go.
As a side note I much prefer Know Your Enemy to Send Away the Tigers.
Stuck up for them when they were shit (Lifeblood)
Glad they've repaid my loyalty!
Sort of liked them (without knowing that much about them)
Thought they were ok (once I learned a bit more about them)
Still think they're ok.
Not that impressed by the new album. Tis ok, but that's not a criticism since I've never really been totally blown away by them anyway. I suppose, as far as the Manics go, it's quite good.
I'm not joking, it is much better than Send Away The Tigers and Know Your Enemy, not as good as the old stuff though. Wouldn't mind hearing this one but not excited as such.
fascinated by them
really loved them
went off them a bit
saw the channel 4 doco last night, and now i'm excited about them again and looking forward to buying the album tomorrow.
